my car makes this weird sound when i take it past 4 grand. sounds like a rattling similar to the sound the belts make when they go bad. it sounds like it is coming from where my intake manifold is. all my belts and heat shields are good. i was told that it could be engine harmonics. help me out someone. the sound is really annoying almost to the point to where i dont want to floor it anymore.

Technically their 'crank pulley' is their harmonic balancer...

detonation?
thats possible. well its getting hot now and it tends to preignite which is detonation i think.

cant call it cause our engines our internally balance.
i get what your saying, many engine parts are often called different names

i know it isn't detonation. the sound doesn't change the way it runs at all. its just a sound. i just dont want the sound to become somethin else ya know.

mine rattles at different rpms, and it was the heatshield under the car near the exhaust

Actually honda counterweights their pulleys to reduce vibrations :) One reason why NOT to switch pulleys with an Aftermarket billet one...

rattling -- hmm... only at high rpms do you NOTICE it (meaning it might do it all the time but you only notice it after 4k) or does is just only do it at high rpms? my 1st guess is valve lash or a rod bearing :(

when was the last time you had your valves adjusted?

ya it starts at just over 4k and doesn't stop till it drops below 4k
