So last time i went to firebird i ran 15.23 my best run, and with a .632 reaction time.
I wanted a base run for my shit before i worked on it. I know my clutch was going out cos i could smell it.

I was really hoping on seeing 14's lastnight because i did a shit load of work on that civic.

--

Changed intake manifold to itr intake - kept the b16 tb because i dont have a replacement
put a dc 2 piece 4-2-1 header on it - replaced cast pos exhaust manifold
changed o2 sensor, old one was hacked all together.
swapped over to a 8lbs flywheel
staged 2 clutch / maybe a stage 1 dont remember

car runs SO much smoother, and feels like it has a much healthyer pull now,
i cant get a decent launch for shit.
but the best i could do last night was a worthless 15.55.

r/t - .468
60' - 2.549
330 - 6.780
1/8 - 10.147
mph 0 73.00
1000 - 13.062
1/4 - 15.529
mph - 91.86

Gaaah!

2.5 60 foot damm

Yup.

Reaction time doesn't mean shit to your ET, it only helps you beat the guy next to you.

60' matters A WHOLE LOT. Think about it this way: you covered 1320 feet in 15.23 seconds, and only covered the first 60 feet in 2.549 seconds, which means you went 1260 feet in 12.681 seconds. You don't need to change a thing on your car, you need to learn how to launch it.

its really hard to launch, tires either spin out really bad, or it will bog down... its irritating...
im running some cheap o' 16in halos and the tires that came with them... Im thinking that a better set of tires will help.

what should my 60' time look like?

2.300-2.350 isn't that great but would be a whole lot better than your 2.549.

That .2xx you would make up at the lights would translate into at least .4xx at the traps.

Try launching at like 5K and slipping the clutch a bit. Don't just hold it up at a certain RPM and dump it, it almost always leads to wheelspin (unless you have DR's and a LSD).

oh wow! that high

I was dumping clutch around 2300 (bogs)
and at around 3k i dump clutch and gas it (trying to feather the gas), and i just spin.

so next time ill drop at 5k, and this time i wont dump the gas untill i know the tires hooked.

Thanks guys..

next on the list is a set of tires for the front, and an LSD

itr intake
DG Cam gears (currently set at 0)
upgraded valve springs

Hmm, stock suspension? Scratch launching that high, lol. Try slipping it from like 4K.

you should be able to hit a high 14 with practice

hey man, its gonna be tricky launching with that new flywheel. 8 pounds is pretty light, i run a fidanza 8 lb and it doesnt seem to carry nearly as much inertia from the motor as a stocker becaus stockers are so much heavier. so for the strip, that flywheel is honestly probably hurting u. on mine it doesnt really seem to matter how much i revv it up, as soon as i gain traction, mu car just falls on its face until higher rpm where that flywheel shines. so just find an open road and practice those launches like hell. good luck with those times man.

thanks guys,

really appreaciate the help.,
I guess a set of drag radials and a LSD should be my next bolt on eh?

and probably do suspention

x4 it was my first guess....check your tire pressure too... but any good car needs a Great suspension and and great car needs an even greater driver

get better suspension and slicks. :)

X2 this would help alot, maybe a 50 shot of NOS?? that will get you there for sure but i personally would stay away from NOS

plus when u think about it, if he can accelerate a lot faster at the beginning, not only will the 60' time be better, but he will hit faster speeds ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TRACK, you will break 14's easily with better tires man

sickness, anybody know somebody that wants a set of 16" 5 spoke halos?
I need to trade them for some better wheels :-)

launching at 4-5k and slipping the clutch will kill your clutch. i have an 8lb flywheel and i launch at 2-2500. dont be fooled, reaction time is important. and .6xxx is horrible. your setup may be able to hit 14s if you learn the car more but i reccomend tuning it.

leave on the last yellow, right? isnt that the most important part about reaction time?

so here is the question....

I know the suspension needs to be done, what should i be looking to do?

TOKICO has a setup for about 400.00,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKICO-HP-SPRINGS-SHOCKS-SET-92-00-HONDA-CIVIC-HPK201_W0QQitemZ260116409403QQihZ016QQcategoryZ335 90QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Will this setup suffice? I dont know anything about suspension. What should i look for when trying to select a setup? I think i might go with some HX wheels and find some bfgs or something, and that tokico setup.

launching at 4-5k and slipping the clutch will kill your clutch.

If he has an OEM replacement, sure, it will kill it. However, he doesn't.

Either way, I'd rather beat up a clutch than blow up a diff.

I just picked up a set of Omni Power coilovers and they are awsome! and pretty cheap too.
but after you drop your car: CAMBER KIT! otherwise you'll spin even worse

and try to get a wider rim and tire combo

LiLinsane
05-18-2007, 12:32 AM
I am looking into a set of ksport full coilovers.

then i think i just need to find better wheel/tire combo. anybody wanna trade for some halo 16's?

tons of tread left., damn rubber is a bit too hard for racing, but great for the street.

blacksihatch
05-18-2007, 02:07 PM
could be a few things

indeed you suspension needs upgrading
your car may need to be tuned for the upgrades you have done to the engine
you may want to shed some pounds from the ride
and maybe shed some pounds yourself or take a dump before you run

LiLinsane
05-19-2007, 03:20 AM
LoL, took the dump check check...

i took off the helo wheels, and threw on some other 15in wheels, they seem to help launch tons better...

once i get the coilovers on, it should help.

heh, have a setup im bolting on tommrow., im not sure if i should do a 50 shot or a 75... hmm

removed the 16" halo's and the hanook tires, and put on some 15's with potanza tires...seems to help accelerate a bit better
cos now the wheels arn't oversized heh...
