yea, i actually took it out of my CRX i have, and took the hosing out too, so i just hooked it up how it was in the rex.... i hope this passes emissions tho... ima be PISSED otherwise

also, when i start my car, the car idles really hard for like 20 seconds, then starts idling normal... when it goes to the normal idle, which is at about 1500 rpms, the check engine light comes on

when its idling hard, which is actually really low, like, 500 rpms, it spits out carbon matter (not oil, i made sure of that).... its an OBD-0 motor, but it doesnt flash, the check engine light just comes on, i was wondering if anyone knew wut it could possibly be

evap canister evaporates the fuel fumes, so no actual fuel fumes get into the atmosphere

...i already told you....turn the ignition on from the passenger seat, and watch the ecu's LED to see how many times it blinks...

to read the codes put the key in position 2 and count the blinks on the ecu led. they will be fast with a pause in between codes.

gcboy90
05-06-2007, 10:00 PM
alright i did it meing, but its like 3 separate codes... one with 5 fast blinks, one with 4 long blinks, one with 3 fast blinks... in that order..

im not sure if they r 3 separate codes, but its wierd... i had the car turned on all the way tho, does that effect it at all?

is your map sensor hooked up? that sounds like the issue. check it out. it will need a vaccume source from the intake mani. most of the time it is on the firewall and looks like you have relocated it. hook it up to the trottlebody hole. the smaller one

well, it looks like on my IM, there r two plugs in need of hosing, idk where they go to, cuz they are just sittin there

also, my CEL didnt start to come on until AFTER I WENT TO EMISSIONS THE FIRST TIME... right when i left, it came on... they must have touched something

2nd...Most code problems are due to wiring problems, NOT faulty parts. Before you go throwing out your distributer, make sure you have the wiring correct. You can easily check the wiring with these easy steps...

--disconnect your battery--
1. Get a multimeter
2. put it on the connectivity option (when the probes touch it should go full).
3. get out the helms, or research exactly what distro you have and where the wires are supposed to go.
4. put one probe at the plug of the engine side of the harness.
5. look up where that wire is supposed to be at the Harness by checking the helms.
6. Put the other probe on the ECU end of the harness of where that wire is supposed to go.
7...Have connectivity? If yes, that wire is good, and go on to the next.
8...If the answer was no, move the probe at the engine side of the harness until you have connectivity. You should be able to find the wire quite easily by doing this. If its at the wrong place, move it to the correct location.

Heres a quick link to the ZC distro wiring...
http://www.thezcr.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5578

3rd...If the wiring all checks out, then its time to start blaming parts, OR the adjustment of those parts. Always make sure the timing is dead on, and the vaccume hoses are routed like they are supposed to.

map sensor does make the most sense, cuz if its throwing a code 3 and 5 simultaneously, those r both MAP sensors.... idk where it is tho mang

from your pics you do not have the stock map sensor on the firewall. yours is on the throttle body or should be.

like i siad earlyer. your map should be on the firewall but has been removed. there should be 2 different vaccume things up on the firewall. one is the map to the throttlebody. the other from the cannister to the firewall

o ok, yea ima work on fixing that really quick

one more thing, y on earth would my CO level jump from 6.17 grams/mile on friday to 65.93 grams per mile today?

turned out to be a bad vaccuum line, it wasnt hooked up correctly

as for the MAP sensor, its still throwing that code, idk how to hook up my MAP sensor... o well, its running like normal again, going to try AGAIN tomorro for emissions

2poor2tune

your map sensor is a 3 pin plug. it should be with another plug that has 2 pins on it. they both should be around the passenger side strut tower. the map only needs to be pluged in at the 3 pin plug and then one vaccume line needs to go from it to the manifold. any vaccume source works

yea it passed this time! lol

and my carbon monoxide level went from 65.93 to 3.4ish... so yea, passed! and all my shit was there
