so i'm working double time all summer to save for another car while i push around in a 600 dollar beater. i would like something nice again but this thief shit is out of control.

i'm not looking to build a 13 second street car or have all the luxury features, but i want something with aftermarket support that can be made quick, something thats reliable with good gas mileage, and something that i can tackle by paying in cash.

so far though every car i've even remotely like has been a victim of theft around here.

are there any imports that can be spared by the storm of theives?
mazdas, nissans, anything?

DSM! you can make it an easy 13 second car, still retain all the features you want like a/c, and depending on what generation you like you can pick one up for way less that 5grand.

E30's are generally reliable. they don't have that many major dodads that can fail like later models, and the luxury features they do have are not essential to normal function. TONS of aftermarket support, RWD, pretty quick in 325i form, and sexy as hell too even with just a drop and some wheels.

If you can find a babied DSM then jump on it. Make sure it's a GSX GST or TSI, the other engined (NA) are shit. Be ready to put some money into the car (mainly because of the age of the cars) But if you want a retarded fast car for cheap DSM is the way to go... and I don't think i've really heard of a DSM being stolen...

True that. BMW made the E30 the old school way, by actually testing the materials used, and then making them 3x's stronger or something along those lines. The later models were all designed on computer, and no real life testing was done which is why they are known to have so many problems. E30's are sick as fuck, cheap and there is so much support for them. Plus, the hood tilts forwards lol

It's an M-technik kit. There is a guy on bimmerforums stationed in Germany that can get them for like $1500 shipped.

and I agree that they are crap, but they have potential & other than a SLIGHT weight difference & looks there is little to no differences between the g20 & ser's.

well, my ex gf had a 1994 sentra 4 door and i'm assuming its going to be identical to the SE-R minus the motor and two doors, and you guys are right, it's a shitty made car :ballin: maybe the infinity version is a little nicer inside.

Sr20p10
05-14-2007, 05:39 PM
Well I have a g20 touring version and it's a pretty good car if you do regular maintenance. The g20's are heavier than se-r's, because it has power everything including heated mirrors and a button that you push that blows cold air for a couple seconds to wake you up. Their pretty slow unless you swap in a sr20det or sr20ve which is like nissans version of the vtec and comes 187 hp stock.

You could always buy a 4th or 5th gen prelude with 100k miles or so. I've never heard of one of them getting stolen. Plus, if my knowledge serves me, 97-01 models have factory immobilizers. Sound like a good deal to me, if you wanted to stay toward a Honda.
