Do you have to notify the DMV or MVD (whatever) that you have painted your car a different color than it came from the factory? ... for title purposes or if a cop ran the plates and it said "Red Lexus SC300" but the car was grey?

I ask because im thinkin of painting my car a new color and i wasnt sure if i had to notify anyone else besides my insurance company about this color change

just file a PPG-1D10T form with the DMV.

thats what i was thinking but it just seems like if a cop ran your plates and it clearly says its a red car but the car he's following is blue it would be suspect

i dont really think it matters because when i use to own my del sol back in Cali it was 5 different colors... the only factory color that was on it was the driver door.

i dont think you have too though...1st car was gold but use to be red and i got pulled over 3 times and never question.it said on my title and registration red...
