I want to buy a website and have no idea how I go by doing so.

I already know the "url" I want.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Anything I should watch out for or know ahead of time?

Is godaddy the only "place" that you can buy "urls" from?

Because I heard someone before say " check to see if the url is available on godaddy"

i bought mine when they were having a good deal on them from godaddy. it was like 10 bucks a year or something. too bad i've had it almost a year and it's still just sitting there with nothing on it

you have to buy your url first...then you have to pay someone to host it...go daddy is ok.what type of space are you looking for?my friend has an awesome web hosting company that is really cheap and he gets alot more than our friend gets from go daddy and he pays less.

There is a lot to do - first off if you bought webspace from the same company, you will need to copy up some kind of .html files so you have something to view @ www.richeees-site.com

if you haven't bought web-space then you need to find some webspace somewhere...
friend of mine runs www.hostinthebox.net - can email them if you like.

if you get it (webspace) hosted somewhere else, you will need to let the company that you bought the URL through know that you need it forwarded to a specific IP address ---
so when someone visits www.richeees-site.com they will know to go to 255.255.255.255 - or whatever.

i went go through godaddy. i pay $3.99 a month for hosting, paid $8.99 to register my domain for a year. im bout to pay more for hosting to support a new website that you guys should be seeing soon.... still working on it. :)

honestly though - godaddy.com tries it's hardest to do good things so i personally wouldn't register my domains anywhere else and I have like 80 or 90.
