x2, h22's are bad ass in civics/integras. and they are cheap to buy. i've actually been toying around with the idea for my DA. i'm either going h22, ls turbo, or just build a head and put my bitch on the bottle....

H22's are garbage.
X100000000, theyre heavy, hard to work with, they cant handle boost., ect.

well it all depends on preference and how much money u are willing to spend..if you want vtec i would say a gsr or ls vtec(built right not just slapping on a vtec head) if you dont want vtec i would say a b20 with a b16 tranny torque fun to drive

K24a1, very cheap and reliable. Tons of torque for a honda motor, plus later you can throw on an a2 head and have high hp with all that torque. Frank-k FTW!!!!!!

the only way id put an h22 in a civic is with a b16 tranny.

do an ls swap (b18a1 or b1). then you can open other avenues later, turbo, all motor, throw a vtec head on it. Lots of options and lots of stuff you can to to the motor.

Yah, the engine is very cheap, although everything else may be a bit expensive. You can get a k24a1 low miles, from anywhere to $850-1100. Thats not bad at all for a k-series. And it has plenty of torque, plus later on swap on an a2 head and you got plenty of hp to go w/ it. More hp and tq stock(w/ a2 head) than most b-series and h-series heavily modded actually.:clap::tongue:

Quite true and alot of stuff will have to be changed out/upgraded. Such as harness, obd conversion, etc. I think he's looking for more of an easy swap it in with little to no modification needed.

never seen this but i know with an h series you need to modify the hood and the motor hangs low so you cant slam the car if you want. plus h22 in a ef never really works out well. i would go ls. a1 or b1 dont matter but i guess go for a b1 cuz they are more likly to have low miles. same numbers just newer motor than the a1

I'm pretty sure the b1 came with 10 extra ponies over the a1 i think they changed the cam design between the two. Also for the b1 you will have to do a obd1 conversion.

nice. i read they were the same but yeah i would imagine now that i think about it. b1 would be better along with the obd-1 conversion

true but in my experience it is harder to find a b20 longblock. but i only went as far as forums. im sure you could find a site that would have them in stock. i change my vote to b20.

haha wut? dude im a b series man myself but theres nothing wrong with h22's. people could never throw a shit load of boost at them back in the day because the fiber reinforced sleeves had friction problems when they were ran with forged pistons, u either ran a stock block, or a completely sleeved built block because forged pistons didnt work with the material of the sleeves. but now mahle makes a set of pistons ( i beleive there are other companies out with them by now but im not positive) with a coating on the piston skirt that allows them to be thrown into stock sleeves. haha lil h22 turbo apps. are dominating. ooooo and a h2b setups are gettin pretty dope also man. idk dude nuttin wrong with an h IMO. just my .02 tho. :blunt:

since im not looking to kill in any race or anything i just want to do an engine swap. move up to a different engine a little bigger. I was thinking maybe a DOHC ZC? They mount in and its bigger than the 1.5 sohc thats in there. give me some more power.
also reason i want to do this is just because i am getting bored with the car and i was beat by a friends automatic FIT. i give him its a v-tech but unless i get to hit 3rd gear he will take me.
so does the zc work well enough to be satisfied and notice a difference

i have a 90 crx with a LS (b18a1) and let me tell you its tons of fun it has lightened flywheel header intake exhaust and hit 14.6 qtr mile with a ls trans
Best for the price i think is subjective and the price kind of varies on engines but imo a B18a/b or B16a are the best bang for your buck.

all pretty much the same but the d15 is a d15 not 16. thats about it. a b16b civic hatch killed my b16a 4d ef with a chipped ecu and cams. oh and a stage somthin clutch. dont remember. sohc vtec ftw. lol. boost it

well good to know before i blow my money. It wouldnt be a good enough difference tho from the 1.5 non v-tech to the dohc zc? when i was looking at the engine specs it said my d15b2 non-vtech kicks out about 90 horse stock and the dohc zc has about 135 stock. mind you also i am not racing, just want something to work on and have a quick toy.

WT? D15B and D16Z6 are not the same displacement. they have the same head except for the cam. but the D15B is a 1.5 and the D16Z6 is a 1.6... not the same displacement. same bore different stroke!

i thinks it's funny how into this thread some of you people are. especially since it's named "biggest engine-best price"
biggest engine really has nothing to do with honda. there are so many other factors that come into play when making power.
so you have a b2 at the moment? why not do stuff to that motor... if you got beat by a fit i'd say it's still dpfi -- swap that out. get an intake, header and exhaust and you'll have a fun little car. somewhere down the road you could do a mini-me swap or swap out the engine entirely, but the mpfi will still have to be done so why not do it now? oh and is your car auto too? cus that would be a good reason for losing to the fit also.
i say stick with your d and swap out the shitty parts with better parts. you could even boost it if you wanted. but then you might want to go obd-1 also... but good luck with whatever you decide.

A single cam and turbo it it will be the cheapest, dollar to power wise. You could have a great setup for the price of a swap. I guess it depends on your budget if its super baller status then of course Kseries. The topic says best price thats why i suggested a SOhc turbo as thats what im building.

B series GSR swaps are getting hella cheap these days :)
d16z6 is my vote...
I'm going to be putting one into my rex soon as i get pistons and rods... Its fairly cheap to get ahold of and its a nice gain over the d15

since when? I was quoted 5000 bucks to have a legit gsr put into my DA. I even found a shady side deal that would only go down to 3000.
