How much power can you get out of a D16A6 or Y8 with:

- unrestricted cams
- unrestricted IM (no individual throttle bodies)
- compression VIA HEAD GASKET AND HEAD SHAVING
- pistons, crank & valvetrain MUST be OEM equivalent
- port/polish only to 1-inch of ports

And how much $$$ would it take to get that power? Would it compare to a B18A/B with an ITR IM?

-- Jonno the most ur gona get with high comp pistons in a y8 with a cam and skunk2 intake mani is about 160hp with a really good tune and the engine in new condition. ur best bet is to throw some vitaras in there and do a cheap turbo kit or just get a stock b18.

OEM equivalent as in, any OEM piston or only A6 pistons in an A6, etc...?

You could get well over 11:1 with PM7 pistons in an A6, with the right amount of milling and a thin enough head gasket.

If you have to use all original parts, including no piston swaps/cam swaps, your best bet would be an A6 with .015-.020 milled off the head, a really thin Cometic head gasket, lots of headwork, port-matched D16Z6 IM, ported IM for a 62mm-64mm TB. That should be good for 120-125whp easy.

Same things on a Z6, 130whp easy.

If you can use PM7's in either, you can crack 150whp with ease.

you could use PM7's or P29's. same piston with a different number and you can get P29's right from honda as they are USDM pistons.

an A6 block with PM7's or P29's with a Z6 head and stock thickness head gasket will put you at exactly 11.67:1 compression. that would be a pretty nice setup. then if you can get some port work done and a good IM and good cam which if you have to stay OEM i would use the D15B cam. i think you could pull 150 HP pretty easy with that setup.
