Stock Ls with Turbo [Archive]

I was wondering if it would be ok to turbo a stock b18a1? Because im thinking about buying a 94 civic coupe with a turboed ls from Lozcar and he is saying that if i run it with 5psi without tuning it that it will be fine, and im pretty sure that its a stock Ls. Would i have to have it tuned or anything?

I plan on boosting my LS at 8 lbs TUNED... 5lbs would probably be "ok" but even if you spend 500 bucks on a good safe tune it's worth the piece of mind that you're not going to smoke the motor... detonation sucks man!

Yes it will run, and no it wont be fine without a tune.

if u dont tune it will be the end of youre motor tune or start looking for a replacement for it .

if you don't have the funds to tune right now, there are other options so you are on the safe side but usually not recommended. use the stock injectors and a FMU. this is by all means not the best way but it's better than not running one at all untuned. I used one when I was running my stock b18a1 turbo. it works but like I said, not the best. it will get you by for now, while you save up enough to get injectors and some good engine management. 12:1 vortech (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VORTECH-FMU-12-1-FUEL-REGULATOR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ004Q QitemZ140194582237QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)should run you no more than $100.

5psi isnt even enough boost to make up for the power lost by the engine breathing through the turbo. complete fucking waste of time.

you can chip tune ecu's with crome and neptune these days for almost nothing so why even risk it?

ls turbo at about 9 lbs makes like 213 at the wheels. not a bad little ride in a light car.
