Does anybody mountain bike here? I usually ride Trail 100 on Saturdays and Scottsdale's Green Belt on Sundays, both around 7 in the morning, sometimes with friends and sometimes alone. It'd be cool to meet up with people and go riding and try new trails/spots. :)

Yeah, you can't ride a single speed on most of the trails around AZ, unless it's downhill, LOL.

Scottsdale's Green Belt/Flood Project is good for that. I usually park at Miller and Roosevelt and ride north as far as I can go. It's a paved trail and you can do it with a cruiser bike.

Trail 100 is at 40th street and Shea in North Phoenix/Paradise Valley. I'd say half an hour from down town Phoenix and however long it takes for you to get there from Tucson. It's not worth your while if you want to just ride there for an hour or so.

Are there any trails half way between Tucson and Phoenix?

I ride "Fantasy Island North" way out west on Estrella Pkwy. Really nice trails that are well marked and pretty fast. Kind of a homemade system, so who knows how long they'll last before they start building shitass houses on the land.

Sometimes I ride the Greenbelt trail after school on Tues. and Thurs. Nice, peaceful ride, especially at 7PM when there' only a handful of other people on it.

I hate South Mountain. VERY poorly marked trailheads. I gave up trying to find Desert Classic.

To all those who didn't go to Trail 100 today, you missed out because it was fucking awesome. There wasn't a whole lot of traffic and the rain didn't screw up the trail. I ended up going there with my buddy. I took my camera with me and snapped a few pictures.

Trail 100 has a lot of more technical drops and hills too. My stupid camera flattens everything out.

What I like about Trail 100 is that there is a good 1/2 to 3/4 miles of kick ass down hill toward the end of the route I take. It's right before it hits the paved road bike track by the highway. I'm thinking of getting a helmet camera and recording some stuff.

We rode probably around 8 miles today. My buddy had a tough time keeping up on his 5 year old Walmart bike, LOL.

Ahahaha, I had one of those Target bikes. The design was so bad that the suspension worked against you, LOL. The bike must have been made out of lead, because it was bloody heavy. All in all it was a piece of crap. Good thing it got stolen at ASU. Hahahaha!! I bought a Schwinn cruiser from Target for like $80. It's OK, but it's also bloody heavy. I won't care if it gets stolen though.

I spent an hour watching some down hill riding on YouTube, and after that, nothing in AZ lives up anymore, LOL. Check this out bro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpu1nxelzBc&mode=related&search=

Confused. I have only seen 20, 23, and 26" frames, and the 20" was meant for lttle kids. Are they measuring these bikes differently than usual?

20, 23 and 26 inch are wheel sizes. Get her a 26" wheel, but on a smaller frame.

On a mountain bike, the frame size is the distance between the centerline of the crank to the top of the seat post tube on the frame. A 26" wheel on a 17.5" frame would work fine for her. The 17.5" might still be a little big for a 5'3" person, so have her check that and a 16" frame out.

Sports Authority has kick ass sales. I've seen decent bikes at 75% off there. They have a variety of frame size there. You can definately buy her a very decent bike for around $300 or so, probably even less if you get lucky and hit one of those sales.

GCC is a lot closer to Trail 100 than Tucson, LOL. Next time you're up here, let me know. Let's go get some riding done.

I've been looking at a helmet camera for quite some time now. I saw a lot of videos on YouTube shot with this camera (http://cgi.ebay.com/WIRELESS-HELMET-CAM-CAMERA-ATC-2000-AT18-ATC2000-2-GB_W0QQitemZ230177462240QQihZ013QQcategoryZ48514QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and they looked decent. They're not DVD quality, but they look decent for internet and web applications. Does anybody have personal experience with it? I think I may order it tonight.

Go to Sports Authority and take a look at their bikes. $250 won't get you a decent bike, unless they have a sale. If you add $100 to it, you could buy a fairly decent bike at S.A.

It was $10.

It says McDowell Mountain is around Pima and Dynamite. Is it just a flat trail? or does it have downhill sections? The book doesn't state that, but it does say to watch out for ATVs.

I haven't tried the "urban riding" thing, so why not? What time Rufus?

I just got a call from Dom (Blkmrkt) so he's prolly down there now. I'd like to go get a drink tonight so I'd prolly ride from 7-10ish... Urban is fun

Dear Rufus,

Motorhead recieved an unexpected invition to a fine dinning facility in the East Valley reigion of Phoenix Metro. Due to schedule complications, he will not be able to join you and would have to decline the opportunity to ride with you in this beautiful evening. He sent his best regards and said "may the force be with you, you and you, and even the kid whom his father hates!"

Sincerely,
Press Secretary
