So u guys think the RSX-S is a good choice? Any theft issues? I had 2 cars stolen from me in the same nite so im done with civics and tegs. You guys think if I got an RSX would i still have to worry about no good bitchass thieves?

type-s is a great car, but insurance is the killer....
& yes I'm sure the k20 will soon have the theft problems that b-series have been having the past decade...
also, the suspension set up kinda sucks & there's not too much you can do about that...

i just purchased one i love it beautiful cars i have it lowered and lil bit of bolt ons but it still puts out but im gettin rid of it not that i cant afford it just want something older and i can have more money in my pocket it hard to have a payment and still buy parts so id rather buy something cash and buy what you want for it but overall it is a super nice car

EPthree04

theft isnt too much of a problem for rsx's and newer hondas. they have antitheft immobilizers so unless you have a key or a flatbed you wont be able to steal the car. getting broken into is a different story though.

Newer hondas past 03 will only have theft problems if you have a flatbed. The immobilizer wihtin the ecu is one of the hardest part, also wiht laser cut keys that the code on the key changes everytime you put the key in and out. If the wrong key is entered wihtout the right code the fuel pump will shutoff. So whole not of worries would be about theft unless a flatbed is used. And remember the value of RSX/Civic Si ect.. is alot higher than a 92-00 civic/intengra.

anyone can call a tow truck...:(
point is if they want your car, they're going to get it. & the 00 & 01 integra's had an immobilizer too... I'm just saying that soon enough these cars will be just as bad as the older tegs & civics are now...

all honda cars up to 04 were not laser cut tho wiht codes thats change. Hard to make a jiggler out of that. Like I said flatbed will be the only way. Also K series motors are still really expensive swaps to do and to modd. So chances are it wont be for a while.

Is it actually that different that b series vtec?

Agent Smith
10-26-2007, 06:07 PM
I'm not even going to comment on the vtec deal... lol @ you guys though...

as far as suspension, well, IT SUCKS! They under steer like crazy & don't rotate very well. Honda did a great job in making a solid & stiff chassis with a outstanding engine, but they totally dropped the ball on the suspension & cheaped out with a mcpherson strut design instead of the double wishbone of the past found on integra & civics... Read up on honda-tech for more info, but well they are a big disappointment to me in comparison with my suspension set up on my dc4. Honestly if it wasn't for that factor I would have got one a while ago...

DirtyEP3
10-27-2007, 12:17 PM
you can make adjustments to get the car to handle better. but honda did fuck up on that.

Agent Smith
10-27-2007, 12:27 PM
better with mods yes, but they will never rotate properly around a turn like my integra does...

Im pretty saure there is a bout a 40 hp difference between the base and the Type-S. I eat Base RSX's, Type-S is my equal. That is until you start modding it. Basic boltons alone are highly effective. a CAI alone can get you up to 18 whp!

Little too much over kill on the cai gains there.

ive, seen like 9 whp at the most bro and that type s gained that much from air box because it dyno'd with headers and kpro and air box previous...

dyno'd stock to the ground aint that bad for rsx's either. :-) would mine having one myself.

I have been working on the RSX since it came out, the 02-03 had alot of cam problems, rockers were not torqued, E.T.C. The suspension sucks ass, you have to remove the whole sub frame to replace a clutch, the trunk side panels have to come out to replace rear springs. In short it is not an easy car to wrench on, the k20 is a bitch, lots of power but again eng. mods are not as easy as b-searies eng's. If you plan on wrenching on your own vehicle I would not suggest an RSX, but that being said, you can build it to be a great track car with tons of power$$$$$$$

Everyone I know with a type-s has never had any cam problems (only frequent valve adjustments from too much vtec).

Yes the clutch is a bitch for damn sure, but most are new enough not to need one...

engine & suspension mods have been pretty strait forward just like a b-series/dc2 for me, they just usually cost more...

If someone has lots of money for a track car, get a better starting platform.

Coming for a money vs. performance stance makes absolutely no sense to me with a rsx type s vs the base or ep3. Unless your using a turbo on the ep3/base model rsx then your not going to make more power then an type-s unless you dump a lot of $$$ into it & by then you would have been better off getting something top notch to begin with.

unless your talking "mods" as in look I've got intake, headers, exhaust, short throw shifter, cat delete, cams, upgraded brake pads, and a few other little things & I'm almost as fast as a type-s... that isn't cool in my book. in fact type-s' aren't that cool in my book considering I keep up with them in a nearly stock base model integra...

ya i love the RSX and the new si. . i would go with the rsx for sho and the new si for speed. . but the quarter mile times are only about .3 different. si coupe=14.9 si sedan=15.1 and the rsx-s= 15.2. . i like the 4-doors rear end on the si and the 2-doors front on it lol. but i like the rsx body styling all around. my car that i would go with tho. . is the new si 2-door.

Well I like both those cars.
Pros.
1. I always wanted a hatch.
2. I like the interior on the Civic.
3. I always like the RSX-S.
4. It has good power.
Thats all the PROS I can think of right now.

Cons.
1. I dont like were the shift knob is.
2. Its not that fast. (I would possible but a better k20 in there if possible.)
3. I dont like leather interior on the RSX.

I could see myself in either to be honest and the 2 I am looking at are the same year, But the Civic has like 10000 less miles.
