I'm repainting my car on Tuesday and was wondering what you guys recommend as a good number of coats for clear and why. Thanks

min. 2 coats
no more than 3 coats.

do 2 then wait 48hrs(depending on clear) then wet sand the clear with 800grit, then re-clear with 2 more coats

why would you do that? Maybe a show car but thats just a waste of clear, and time.

what if you have imperfections in the clear....ever think of that.....

thats what cuttin n buffing is for... but u use 2000grit then polishing compound then rubbing...

i have always thought that anything less than 4 coats of clear look liked garbage..

what ever mrdunklow says gos for me. i trust him over anyone elese on this board. cept for justin but he will agree with him haha.

oh.......most these guys are i-cars certified and have painters certifications.....they are right jared.....leave them be.....we do our thing they do theres......

u sand out major imperfections .... wtf r u talking about ... like runs or drips or like someone literally running into wet paint ?

what if you have imperfections in the clear....ever think of that.....

What if you get imperfections again how you gonna fix that? sand it a re clear again then you'll have a huge mess, or what if you sand through the clear then it rings cuz thats what it will do. A paint job isnt a paint job till its cut and buffed. But I dont know what I'm talkin bout ;)
