Question here is. I just picked this DC5 up. Previous owner put these stripes on that I highly dislike. My plan was to use a hair blow dryer to make them come off easier. Main question is, what about the sticky stuff left behind? What should be used to remove it? I'm sure rubbing alcohol would work, but will that damage the paint? Can someone help me please. Thanx

i use bug and tar remover available from Checkers and it works fine. I removed tons of residue that way. I also used Carnuba cleaner wax to get the more stubborn bits off. That worked like magic.

u know i love me a DC2 more but its nice :)

And yes, its designed for paint finishes, wont hurt a thing. The waxing makes it look gorgeous of course too :)

The one at checkers is called BUG AND TAR remover, its in the wash wax section, blackish bottle, green (neon) lable.

I've seriously been thinking about moving back lately. I would be so bad ass to work with you at shift fast. Can you still get parts? I remember your sig said you don't sell parts anymore, but now says open for business. I'll be in the market for some suspension soon.

Yup, we can still help the locals out with parts.

Lol yeah it'd be badass to have an extra hand around, we have to get started up again though and see if we can get it all rolling

would it take off pin stripping thats been on there a long ass time?

Probably not because the sun starts to make it sink into the paint which even if you got the pin stripes off it would still looks darker underneath.

Any other suggestions? That stuff from checker didn't really work. Haven't tried the bumper sticker remover from autozone yet. Anything else? What about rubbing alcohol? Will that mess my clear up?

I had the exact same issue. I bought an EG with white stick-on racing stripes. I used a heat gun and it worked perfectly without any damage to the paint. My car was blue, and when the stripes came off, the paint around the stripes was more faded than the paint that had been covered by the stickers, so I still had "ghost" stripes. But that probably won't be a problem for you.

Just start at one end, get it hot and start peeling it up, heat-pull -heat-pull.

Don't use harsh chemicals or try scraping it off. That will possibly fuck up your paint.

Hell, a hairdryer may even work if it gets hot enough.

the thing about the wheel is that if youre not constantly moving you could burn the paint be careful! um lacquer thinner will take it off but as soon as its all done wax that baby up! just my .02. thats what we do at my dealership.
