okay when i turn my car on i idle at like 2300 but when it warms up it stays at 1500 but when i come to a complete stop for a few seconds it goes to like 900.. the motor is a 98 spec type r anyone have any ideas why it is doing this or if its okay thats its doing it lmk

Idle should be around 700-750ish. What ECU? Clean the wire trap on the IACV as a good precaution.

Naw man. He has fluctuation, it's not a consistent low or high spot in the idle. IACV is on back of Intake manifold.
Here is a pic of one from a D16Y8. It's the black thing in the middle. There are two bolts holding it on.

that thing is a bitch it fooled me 2 just change it out new like $70 or $170 dont remember

X2 or try replacing the O rings on it, i also had a buddy that didnt tighten down the intake manifold enough and it caused a vacuum leak and did this, hopefully this helps

My car does this as well. Its normal for the car to idle higher when cold, its to warm up the car too keep it from dying.

ya thats what i was thinking but ill put it in neutral and it still idles at like 2300 or 2000 till i go to the complete stop but sometimes it doesnt do it it just sits at 1k

Naw man. He has fluctuation, it's not a consistent low or high spot in the idle. IACV is on back of Intake manifold.

shupe bring it by we wil fix it cus its like the throttle sticks but it doesnt..when your driving and throw it in neutral its stays at like 2-2500 but when you come to a complete stop it takes a sec than goes to 900

Pull off the two bolts to the right of that and you'll see a screen under the mounting surface. Clean it all out with carb cleaner. Just make sure that screen mesh is CLEAN>

might also be a loose wire from the ecu. or a bad sensor. mine was loose wire.

i fixed it thanks everyone for the help the idle screw was all the way out and a exausht leak but everything fixed and is running good :thumbsup:
