how do you remove valves?

right now i have a z6 head taken apart, how do i take the valves out?

valve springs removed?

compress the valve spring and remove the retainer. the valve should slide right out.

take a socket and extension and place it over the retainer. than take a hammer and hit it hard and it will cause the valve spring to compress but not the keeper. thus your valves will be easy to remove.
