View Full Version : strange hesitation

this morning on the way to work, cold, damp out... also did it on the way home from work today too, it was cold/wet/rainy again so i had use defrost again.

d15b in 95 dx.
it happens mainly when i had the defrost w/ ac on... in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears its present.

car basically falls on its face! hardcore hesitation, but if i mash the gas, it powers through it eventually. if i let off gas or or press gas slightly it only hesitates/boggs worse.

it only seems to happen when the car is engine is fully warmed up and heat/defrost/ac on... and its only happened on these two occasions today.

??? :poke:

maby your ignition system was wet? mines been acting up too! how old are your wires, cap?

CAPTAIN CAAAAAAAVEMAN

the wires and cap are actually pretty much new. i think homeslice repaced them b4 he sold me the car... moisture could be the culprit, good suggestion

it actually did it again this morning, but only on my way, AND IT DID IT BEFORE THE CAR WAS WARM, OR THE HEATER/DEFROST WERE ON!!

again i mashed the gas and it got back to normal a few seconds later...

then on the way home today it was nice and sunny and the shit ran like a champ. wtf

Doesn’t sound serious, I think if your coolant temp sensor is 140 degs or so, and other sensors read un-optimal temps, your car has a protection mode so you can't rev high, no VTEC too if you do have it ??

ya i have vtec but i dont even try and drive like that in when the car is cold, motors die like that.

all these symptoms were occuring within about 1500-4000 rpm... im just guessing because i have no tachometer.

it has not happened again since the weather dried out... im leaning towards moisture in the ignition system...

I havnt had that problem with my teggy but my blazer did exactly what ur talkin about and it was my catylitic converter "hope I spelled that rite" but anyways ya, and it slowly got worse and worse.............

Well I guess I misunderstood, But I’m glad you understand keeping your revs low when the engine temp are not optimal. Moister dose a lot of weird stuff to electrical system and seems that a engine that not use to moister, uhh az engines, they get pissed when moister is about :pissed: good luck though

check and make sure the distributor is actually tightened down.. i had the same problem earlier this week and found my distibutor a lil bit loose.. but it would come and go like you are describing.. also check all your plug wires for tears or damage that would cause a loss in spark.. moisture in the air alone isnt enough to make this happen..
