I've been looking for a chipped ecu for my b16 lately and noticed that it's just one ZIF socket soldered in place.Has anyone every done their one ?? Is it worth the money not to ever try.Doesn't look like rocket science if you have a desolder bulb and a good soldering iron.

it is hard as hell. ive desoldered which was too easy, put the 28 pin socket in and soldered. but it seems to do the warning "if the check engine light is on and only revs to 4k, you fucked up". so ive fucked up on 2 p06 ecu's already. but all holes are completly fill in with solder. i have no idea what is wrong with them, i have a gotspeedracing.com chip for p06 I/E/H setup, and a spoon chip for p28

It's actually easy, but it's more than one thing that needs to be soldered. I've been doing it for years, so I may be biased.

If you have never done any type of soldering I wouldnt recommend starting on an ECU that you want to drive on. Plenty of people can hook you up with a chipped ecu. Like myself, joe at locash, scott at collective, HRtuning. It is a tedious process.
