Does Yuma have a 1/4 mile track? I am looking for a 1/4 mile track at sea level or near sea level because I want to race my car and feel the 100%+ horsepower that sea level gives the engine, and I want a good time slip lol. I am even considering finding a track in So Cal to race at. I'm ready for a road trip. :)

So if you guys know of a track in or near AZ that's at or near sea level post it up please! Also FYI, Google says the lowest point of Yuma is only 70ft above sea level at the Colorado River and Firebird Raceway is 2695 ft above sea level! SIR in Tucson is even worse at 3075 ft above sea level!!!

here is a quote about L.A. County Raceway from Wikipedia.

LACR has a reputation among amateur drag racers as a slow track. It is sometimes referred to as the "ice rink". It is widely known for the slow times that street cars achieve. The slow times comes from three different sources. First, LACR's extremely high elevation lowers 1/4 mile times and trap speeds (although the altitude is only 2,710 ft the normal altitude density is around 4,000 ft [1]).

also there is a drag strip at California Speedway in Fontana (1121.27 ft above sea level), but from what i can tell from thier website they don't offer open drags to the public.

......and Yuma does have a drag strip ... but its a Sand Strip for sand drags !!

I believe they closed LACR down. California speedway is open to the public and has occasional import events and street legal test and tune events. Last time I went to California speedway I only got 3 runs because it was packed as hell.....

It says on Firebirds Site that the track is at 2696 ft above see level. Where are you guys getting that 1243 number from, Wikipedia?

So why is it so hard for so many N/A people to run good 1/4 mile times there? I heard that place has stale air because of it's location near or in between some mountains? I dont know for sure.

maybe they just take slow cars...lol

i was a tenth away from breaking 12s in my 2002 civic si. Had only 231whp and the thing was heavy ( 2800 lbs with me in it ) .....thats the best i've done....not that it is incredibly fast, but i was satisfied considering the setup

It's all in the 60 ft. times.
Although, some people I know run faster times and higher traps at speed world, consistent 3 mph difference for a friend w/ a G35.

I haven’t had a chance to run at Speed World yet though.

LACR sucked not just the sea level, but the track would be good one day and horrid the next! Fontana is way better and looks the part also, I lived a couple of blocks down from there and you can hear the IRL car revving at the starting grid, sounded awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
