hey my friend has a 89 si prelude with a jdm b20 non vtec swap in it. his dad recently tried to install a new timing belt... but he accidently ligned up the timing 180 degrees off and it pretty much ruined the top end. so now he is looking to re-do it and make it vtec. anyone that has done this before... please let me know so he can fix his car. thanx

that was the original plan but now he wants to vtec it. we went down to addictive racing and Eric said that iswould cost around 16 to 2300 tops.

1600-2300 tops to do what put a vtec head on a prelude b20a5, no way he has no idea what he is in for if they even want to try plus, u cant rev it over 7k u will spin bearings, preludes have the gangster lean causing huge oil problems,

but if he can swap a h22 in it for 1600-2300 including parts sign me up also
the mounts are 400, axles is about 300 the motor tranny combo is 1000 on a good day and the rewire is 200 aleast leaves them 400 for labor or less

well thats what he said. but he just did the suspension on my car and it only came out to 1500. and i got new KYB struts and thicker axles and a 4wheel camber kit. i already had the megan coilovers though. but they did a good job. it rides nice... i little bumpy though:dumbass: but im used to it.

yea it was actually 1200. i just looked at my receipt. and yea it was for my accord. and the thicker axles can handle more stress. thats all.

I have B20a5 in my garage . I completely butted a non running 88 si prelude . bought the car for parts used the front clip on my 89 si lude . the car did not run but cracked . it had major wiring issues would not get power to the dist. or the computer. so I never got it running but if your looking for a cheap B20A5 $100 come and get it .

nah. my friend pretty much needs a whole new head. it chewed up the spark plugs and messed up the timing and for sure bent the valves and who knows what else  . we still need to take it apart.

I have the B20a with the B16 head and its not easy to do. It will cost you at least 2500 to properly do it right and you will need to get your cams reground. I know of no one else who is really running that setup. Good luck.
