OK so my problem is i started work on turning my prelude into a mugen prelude and the question was on what power plant would be the coolest to use and i came across hasports conversion kit to put a k series in my car an i think i want to go with a k24 mated to a 6 speed transmission i wanted your feedback to see what the honda crowd would think of it.

let me know guys

this is also gonna be my thread for pics and updates to my car

can't wait to hear from all of you

well i havent decided on what k24 motor i want to go with i kind of wanted to use the factory turbocharged one from acura i'm gonna post some pics of the lude and the mugen bumper and the audio components when i get home from work in a bit. what engine do you think i should use?

id say go k20, parts would be fairly cheaper, plus more aftermarket support.

JDM_freak
01-16-2008, 04:46 PM
i was considering that. my only thing is i want torque thats what i'm after but you bring out a point with that k20 idea.

Waste of Money IMO. K20 pushes the same amount of HP and has less torque. Motors weigh about the same. I suggest Keeping the H22 and building it or do a k20 head/ k24 bottom end.

JDM_freak
01-16-2008, 05:27 PM
i like the k20 head idea on a k24 it might work really good. the turboed k24 from the rdx impresses me though because its rated at 260 foot pounds of torgue which is alot of power but the k 20 head on a k24 interests me

from what i gatherd its just another k series motor so the swap should work if not than i'm going to use the power plant from a tsx

I am green with envy. Pm me how much you got it for. I want one, but the only thing i would rock on my DD is a mugen replica..

Which no one has made yet.

you guys want torque?? go get a J Series motor and do custom work with it, like me.

i've got a 3.5 swap into my 03 accord AV6, i'm pushing about 270- 280whp and almost 300 torque with my swap.... and yes i have lsd installed as well. and im N/A for now.. should have been turbo'd and everything already but some dumb ass tuner blew my fucking motor while tuning... so im just stuck with my swap for now.

JDM_freak
01-16-2008, 10:21 PM
a v6 would be great but theres no mounts to do that kind of a swap yet or i would do it. so with the rdx's 2.3 liter turboed motor i get 240 horse and 260 in torque which i am more than happy with so it looks like thats the route. i don't know much about the k series i honestly wish i knew more cause i would prefer a high revving 300hp k24 but i don't know how to do that... :(

umm you can try and do that, but i really don't think its possible yet...

i say you just do a k20 or k24 swap and just do the tsx tranny 6spd swap if thats possible.. Do all the bolt ons thats out there for it and im pretty sure you'll be satisfied..

I've seen this motor swapped into ep3's a few times already. I believe it bolts right up to the ep3 but don't quote me on that just what I saw on ephatch before being banned.this swap In the lude would be sick as hell hasport would be the ones to make the mounts fo sho I would suggest hitting them up. The J series motor wont fit in a prelude.

As far as the RDX motor... I looked into it and the issue with it is that the motor is too tall so it wont fit in any other Honda. My suggestion is to stick with a K20/K24 frankenstein.

DJ Hookid
01-17-2008, 10:47 AM
Something else I've seen is a K20 head on a H22 block... :type:
Don't ask me how but they did it and it was torquey as hell!

ya i looked alot more into it the k23 it too tall unfortunetly but i decided to build a k20 i checked out a company called toda and they have a stroker kit for that motor so that answers the torque issue. my only question is... will a k20a2 mount up to the 6speed from the tsx???

DJ Hookid
01-17-2008, 11:43 AM
why dont you just use a RSX-S 6 speed tranny? Its basically the same except for the final drive.

JDM_freak
01-17-2008, 12:32 PM
the hasport mounts are for use with the tsx or accord 6 speed i guess they're different thats why i need to know if i can use that tranny with the k20a2 motor

im pretty sure if you can put a j series into a hatchback (which i've seen a video online before) then you can fit one in a prelude..

but hey whatever jdm freak wants to do! if he's got the money then go for it.

JustinD
01-19-2008, 08:46 AM
the height of the RDX K23 has nothing to do with it not working with kswap parts/mounts.

the block is an entirely differnt block than all the k20/k24's and NO civic or rsx transmission will bolt up to it. The RDX uses a RL style transmission (at least the bolt pattern is the same)

And the oil filter is moved on the back of the block to be right in the way of where the RSX/Civic intermediate shaft would have to go...this doesnt matter for the RDX tranny cause its RWD.

The block itself "size wise" would fit in your prelude/civic/accord etc, just dont have a way of bolting a tranny to it yet.

Just put a k24a2 w/ a RSX 6 spd in your Lude....you'll love it.

JDM_freak
01-19-2008, 10:58 AM
i have to use a tsx 6speed its the only one that will fit. currently i'm debating between a k24 with an rsx type r head or stroking a k20 to 2150cc at a 12:1 compression which do you think would be a better solution???

wouldnt bother buying a type r head if you go k24....a type r head is the exact same as a type s head (just different cams)....plus the head on the k24a2 is already a "3 lobe" vtec head lke the type s and type r....not good reason to switch it.

as for a built motor, thats always better if you wanna spend the cash to do it.

Just get k24a2, the tsx motor. Cam it, throw some nice headers on it, and an intake. Have Joe down at locash tune it, and trust me you'll be plenty happy. It will be the best pulling honda motor you have ever driven, and still feel a lot more torquey than your h22.

It's a '93 Si VTEC (color: BG-23M). Unfortunatly it has not been drivable after some thieves (some who are friends of members of this site, and who lurk this site themselves) got their damned hands on it.

Anyway I've got it stashed away along with a Mugen front and spoiler waiting for it.
Hopefully this year I can either get it painted or drop in a Euro R. Once I get it running, I'll send off my JDM H23A To get worked on...Yeah, a track meet will be a while. LOL!

maybe after you do the 5 lug conversion, i heard the rear s2k wheels will not fit because of the offset on the rim, but you have to have 5 lugs to fit an s2k wheel on your car so u need the conversion done first bro

I got my 5 lug swap off a 5th gen. You need to make sure you have everything along with the bars as some of the links are different from the 4th gen. I'll send you some pics to see what I mean. Oh yeah, you do need spacers, but I heard it wouldn't be as bad if you went with 5th gen axles.

^^doubt that. then why are they so cheap? tensioners problems, shifting problems. and the list goes on. good luck with the build btw

Ugh...lets not get into exaggerations and misconceptions. Why the hell do people feel the need to to throw mud? B series is great and relatively easy to swap and mod. H/F-series gains great power on somewhat low to high budget builds. K-series is H-series plus an extra gear and mechanical refinements.
