One of my old Hondas was a 93 EX coupe. Car was a 5spd with the stock SOHC VTEC in it. All I did to the car was a Ebay brand CAI and a 2.5" catback (crush bent) to a Ebay fartcan. This car would run 16.1 at SIR all day long. I think SIR is like 3000ft elev. Is this normal for a EX coupe with I/E only? I rode with a friend of mine in his Cobalt 2.2 that has intake and exhaust and he beat a EX with a cam and I/H/E from a 40 roll but he only runs high 16's...

Was my EX a "monster" car or do you think the previous owner did something more to the car before I modifed it? When purchased this car was stock. Or so it was said. And the motor was only a d16z6 if I remember correctly...

Any input on this? What are some times run by EG EX coupes with just I/E?? Thanks guys! :clapper:

So is it really just because I knew that car and how to drive it? My Prelude with the H22 was a 95 with a 93 trans and I could barely get that thing to run a 14.9 with I/H/E and cams... maybe it was the extra "torque"... LOL!

street is different.
track driving is alot different then the street.
and x2 on DRIVER. that has everything to do with it. And possibly a blessed USDM D series.

My buddys Automatic 1997 Civic ex With I/H/E went 17.8! so your doing good lol

Wow.. I'm seriously not trying to toot my own horn or anything but I had no clue. Maybe it was just a connection of Driver and Car. Maybe a monster D. Who knows? Wish I still had that car though!

This just in, 16.1 is in fact, not fast.
It’s all in the 60 ft. time. <-- Driver. I’m sure you buddy in the Chevrolet is pulling 2.4xx 60 ft. times.

ok. so i get the 60 ft times reference.. then my big question is...

What to EG coupes with stock SOHC VTEC motors with a CAI and cat back usually run overall in the 1/4? (speed and time) Anyone know?

^--- Thanks dudio!

Answers my questions perfectly. To a point. :) Closest to my time was a 16.4 and that was a 95 EX with orig motor, K/N Drop in, skunk2 intake mani, exhaust, short throw and 99 SI rims....

So either it was driver mod 2.0 FTW or my car had some internal work done. Wow. Thanks guys!

when i had my bitch (95 eg hatch, d15b, weight reduction, lo front psi, hi back, I/H/E, chippd p28, short throw, weighted knob, ground kit, red top, and 91octane) we were runnin lo lo 15s, i broke 14 once on a PERFECT launch...but its all driver dude...

coupes should run high 15s all day with no weight reduction on high octane and a good driver

what was the altitude at the track you were at? I know SIR here in Tucson is a little over 3000 ft and driving to Phx we can take almost a full second off our times here by running at Firebird...

Firebird’s about 1250 ft. elevation, I think Speed World is listed at about 1,400 ft.

Wow. Cool. So a 2000ft elev change really makes a seconds difference. Seems like they prep better in Phx than Tucson too!

With Firebird, I'm not too sure about that...

My 95 coupe (Ex) with the d16z6, only intake:
16.610's consistent with shitty tires on 17's
2.3 60' :(
Your time seems pretty accurate to me.

Yay! Thanks guys! So this 16 flat.. was that at FB or SW? Cause if it wasn't at SIR that means in Phx I should have run a low-low 15... Wish I still had that car. It pulled strong!

If im running I/H/E and OBX intake mani, OBX throttle Body and OBX Throttle boday spacer, short shifter, not Cat. converter, 91 octane and a bottle of octane booster on a 98 dx(d16y7) what do you guys guess i'll be running? 1 bad thing, i am running on 17" wheels.

my buddy from high school ran 15.9's with his intake only 97 EX...he did have eibach sportlines and 17in Konigs too. that car was freakishly fast though for only an intake on it.
