It was fun having rhett parked next to us (rhett get there a little earlier bro so you can get to tech in time! lol ) good to see him out there. You all should have seen the paddock. There was a line of about 9 honda/acura in a row. Looks like the hondas were taking over the paddock.

I haven't been instructing as long as some of the other guys (dan, jeff, et al) but I've never had a student get my that close to soiling myself. :p Just remember to keep that wheel straight in your T1 braking zone. :thumbsup: Good to meet you, I'm glad I switched students as its always more fun working with the FF guys.

Keep in mind the TA lap time link that Gabe posted represents mostly some of the quicker DE drivers.

Back in 1999 I think I ran 1:08 with some 205/50-15 Kumho Victoracers and a 1:10 on 205/40-16 Yoko A520's (street tires). Last Summer I was running 1:03's at FIR East. I think most intermediate/advanced DE drivers will be in the 1:05-1:15 range depending on the car and tires.

I'll be shooting for 1:02's this year when we run there next!

I've driven shifter karts and I'm surprised they weren't faster. I'd expect mid 50 second times with a good driver.

I helped run a Viper Days event and there was one Viper that was low/mid 50's if I recall correctly!

i still am not sure why i was pulled over. i was not drunk, i was not asked to take a breathalizer or other dui test. i was not speeding or acting stoopid. the people next to me at the red light before the cop pulled me over were honking their horns and being idiots. i was expecting them to get pulled over but as soon as the light turned green, it was me getting pulled over. my license has only been suspended for 10 days. when i got home i read a notice that came in the mail that was dated the 5th. its nobodies fault by mine and i have already spent about 300 dollars in efforts to getting the situation fixed.

I've only ran FIR West twice. The first time there was heavy water running across one of the faster turns as well as standing water/mud at the apex/exits of other turns. I ran a 1:06 that day on 215/50-13 Kumho 710's. The second time I was on 225/50-15 Kumho 710's but realized I corded the front tires the day before at the autox. I threw them on the back and did about 4 or 5 laps and then called it a day because it was WAY too loose. I was going to enter the drift content had the tires not been a safety issue. I think I ran about a 1:08 that day. I think my car on a dry track will do a 1:01-1:03 at FIR West. Hopefully the Summer event will be dry and I can find out.

I love it when a plan comes together Hannibal! Things are looking a little better for me getting out there. Hopefully with Tony's help I could be ready for Saturday. Just gotta plop the trans on there and slide the motor in, as well as the other button-up stuff. I'm pretty sure I'll be there even if my car is not ready. Thought the car was on fire 1/2 way through and had to park it. Turned out to be ok, but I'm still not sure where the smoke was coming from (can't see it very well in the video).

Thanks Tage, coming from you that means something. Do you see anywhere that you think I'm leaving time on either driving or setup? Everywhere? :-p I still feel like I have room for improvement. I think my car could be a 1:11's car with the right setup and driver. If you ever want to give it a shot, just let me know and we'll shoehorn you into my Circuit for a session. :)

Glad you guys enjoyed the video. Over the next couple months I'm going to be converting my car from H4 spec to H2 spec. I'll be dropping as much weight as possible (up to 200#) and will be building a stock-ish B20 to hopefully get another 30whp or so down to the ground. I don't know how fast the car will be then, but I'm hoping low 1:11's or high 1:10's. At this point, I feel like my laptimes are almost entirely lb/hp limited, so I think picking up a full second or more is definitely not out of the question.
