Removing Paint from Rotor

I just picked up set of rotors which were painted black at the hub section but some paint is on the rotor to which the brake pads make contact with.
How do I remove the excess paint?

paint stripper
gently sand it?
there are so many ways

it will come off when you drive. if not paint thinner or brake fluid
