Im new to the engine modifying world, and im thinking about boosting my single cam, it is stock to internals, nothing can someone please tell me wat I will need to boost it so it doesn't blow, and if I need to build different, where is the best/cheapest place to go?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

first and foremost, do a compression test and a leakdown test to see if your motor is worth boosting. if you have bad compression then maybe put your money into a swap or rebuild before you go boost.

kinda scarey if your new to the game. but, lumpy said enough.

both leak down tests and compression tests you can do yourself. autozone rents a kit to do the compression test

So after I see wether its worth boosting or not I don't have to sleeve the block or forge the pistons or get better rods or anything?

get a good tune

x198734963. Can't emphasize this enough! The best parts in the world with a shitty (or no) tune on them are going to melt down or break, sooner or later. On the flipside, a good tuner can make good RELIABLE power on even the most stock motor with power adders...it just so happens that there is such a tuner in the valley...Jose a la Lo Dinero Carreras...(that's Arizona for "Joe at LoCash Racing...";))

Thanks for all the help one last thing though, I might get a t51 that someone is trading me, is this even worth it? Everyone tells me its too big for my d16 and I think so too so should I or not?

If your doing obd1 go with uberdata or chrome chipped ecu as engine man, alot safer, deff get it tuned, use quailty shit too, upgrade injectors, go with couple stages colder spark plugs, change ur fuel filter to make sure its good. Get a t3 for that single cam, perfect for in town driving and fun. make sure you run 91oct gas too.

well if you can afford it i would say go with hondata. but if not chrome will work too

uh, rufus said it best.

to add to that. crome and the others can be good, but there are limited guys. in az, only xact has dyno license for crome. only locash has neptune. hondata guys are all over and there is excellent support from hondata. we're talking $195 for hondata. you'd pay that for a BJ from a hot blonde, why do cheap on turboing your honda?

google the full race pinks episode. the D isn't as bad as some people say. 200-250 and long life is 100% do-able. just use hondata and a good tuner along with a kit that isn't $550 on ebay.

Thanks I just got wat I believe is a t3/t4 turbo the setup is greddy im not sure but its a small one, I need to replace the ball bearings on it which should be about a bill and other than that I guess imma go tune it at locash, this came with piping intercooler, blow off valve and I believe a waste gate and manifolds, wat else is missing?

you wanna upgrade your ignition and fuel
not enough spark sux and not enough fuel will bring a good time to an end

upgrade fuel pump, injectors, spark plugs, possibly fuel pressure regulator and gauge,
and of course a good tune

Honestly at your point in guessing what you have. An already pieced together turbo kit will be the best way for you to go. Also read about what you are getting into. The easiest way to blow a motor is by strapping on a turbo. You are by not far ready to boost!

Seriously go to Turbod16.com
and Read the "Noobie" thread.

That will tell you everything you need to know for a basic setup and what you need to build your own kit.
thats what I did and it worked great!
