if you were just to buy one of either a strut bar or a sway bar, which one would improve handling/response better?

I always prefer a good set of sway bars and will buythem first. Then the strut bars next.

sway bar is by far a more noticeable difference.

I concur, sway bars will make a huge difference in handling compared to the marginal diff that body/tie bars will make...

most strut bars are for appearance only anyway

Start with a good REAR sway bar. That will make the biggest difference out of all of them.

FYI - on my track car (i.e. EG Civic HB) I have a stock GSR front sway bar, a 22mm Comptech rear bar and NO strut bars at all...

Don't you also have a full cage? & some crazy spring rates?

"Most" however It is a very noticeable difference if I remove my front or rear strut tower bar on either of my cars. Quality strut tower bars can reduce body roll, & help stiffen up the car in the turns.

If it wasn't a noticeable difference then I'd remove the rear one's because they reduce trunk space sometimes when carrying groceries. lol.

Yep, a good strut bar, not crap, will be noticable, but I as stated above, prefer sway bars.
