So yeah I have just about got everything disconnected from the d17 and am about to pull the motor out. Hopefully (knock on wood) the k24 will be fired up and running by monday!

Nice man, good luck with the swap. Once you got the mounts all on and stuff, it really isn't that hard to just drop the motor in. Only took me about 10mins, once I had all the mounts losely bolted into place.

sniperscout
04-18-2008, 01:39 PM
yeah the hardest part for me is figuring out where all the damn hoses go

bryans_k20
04-18-2008, 01:46 PM
Lol, yah that was probably the hardest part for me too. It makes it somewhat easier if you find an RSX manual.

Well i am about done for the day. I got the d17 out and the engine bay cleaned and painted. I still have to some more cleaning tomorrow once i get some light though. I never thought i would see the day that I got new paint in the engine bay. I am absolutely pissed though...my KPro was supposed to be here today! Expedited shipping my ass!

I dont know what is up with the paint but it wont dry. All I have accomplished is installing two motor mounts

I can't tell you how many times I've started a side project "while I'm there" working on a main project and it's delayed the whole fucking thing. Add all my turbo woes together and I've been without my car for a 3 week period. Been there holmes. The pay off is worth it though

sniperscout
04-20-2008, 01:16 AM
yeah im good now...nothing a good night of drinking doesnt cure.
I was just frustrated as fuck. For $600 mounts i kind of expect the shit to fit right. The holes didnt line up... the spacers welded to the mounts werent welded straight...and the bolts werent fucking long enough...it was just one thing after another and i was pissed. Its little shit...I was just bitching.

sniperscout
04-20-2008, 04:05 PM
if any of you decide to get hasport mounts...expect to have to buy your own hardware for installation. Overall i am really dissappointed in the kit.
I dont kow if i just got an individual bad kit, but dont be surprised if you get a set and they arent quite right

MrRline2010
04-20-2008, 05:55 PM
are your mounts the solid billet mounts?

sniperscout
04-20-2008, 07:34 PM
yes they are
i cant even put the motor in yet because i cant find any bolts the right length for the passenger side mount. the ones hasport provided are too short and dont even thread, and home depot doesn't carry metric bolts in the length i need. Hopefully ace has longer metric bolts. i had to go buy bolts for the rear mount that goes on the subframe too.
the motor mounts have probably pushed back my project by about 4 days. which sucks cause now i cant get to class.

MrRline2010
04-20-2008, 07:38 PM
I think lowes carries metric. I know I remember stocking them a few times years ago. They carry clips too o.O

sniperscout
04-20-2008, 07:43 PM
clips? like wiring clips?
home depot carries metric just nothing longer than 80mm
i need probably 100mm
I bought the k24 mounting kit. the only thing k24 about the kit is one mount is lower since the motor is taller. well what also goes with the k24 is the passenger side crv mounting bracket. the thickness of the bracket causes the bolts meant for the K20 kit not to thread. If i were to ever buy mounts again for this project i wouldnt buy them from hasport. the mounts themselves look great, and i am sure they will work great... its just all the headaches they have caused due to little details. Which in my opinion shouldnt happen for $600. These are the types of problems i would expect from ebay knockoff mounts if they existed.

Sorry to hear the trouble with the mounts man. Mine couldn't have worked better, they seriously went in perfect the first time, never gave me any problems and all the bolts were the perfect length. I even have the k20 mounts but am running the k24 bottom end. Maybe its just b/c of the different chassis or something, but my mounts were perfect.

If I havent seen pictures of this motor in an em2...I would have to conclude that there is no fucking way this motor fits. I tried for over 2 hours to get this motor into the engine bay and just could not get it to fit.

So maybe ill have it running by the end of the year...that seems to be more of a realistic goal.

I have to fab up some custom brackets to move the radiator still. I kept the civic radiator. Seemed like a waste of money to buy another one. Oh and for the record...We dont need the passenger side crv mount. that mother fucker was the root to almost all my mounting problems.

Don't you need an adapter harness?

sniperscout
04-25-2008, 11:10 PM
now it seems that i do not have enough connectors...it seems that my rsx harness doesnt have the connector for the speed sendor wired into it. I have taken it apart and the wires just arent there. how does that happen?
why does it seem that car projects never go remotely as planned. nothing can ever be smooth.

That's why the "vets" say to spend a LONG time planning. I was down for 2 weeks for the turbo and thought I toasted another headgasket again today. These are the pains of the game but they're also the shit you look back on a year from now. Welcome to tuning and the everpressing knowledge that tuning with your daily driver IS A BITCH!

sniperscout
04-25-2008, 11:28 PM
i just figured it out...the 02-04 wire harness i bought is actually an 05-06. well the speed sensor plug on the 05-06 harness is different than the 02-04. On top of that...honda changed the colors of a lot of wires and possibly the pin outs too. I cant seem to make any steady progress. I get one thing done then on the next step there is another problem. looks like i will be out of a car for quite some time...again. Next time, I am buying everything new.

what is a clutch cable. ?

the em2 is a hydro clutch vehicle....you shouldnt have any clutch cables.

actually not as bad as I was expecting since everone says the swap is 10-12k

when people say that, they are talking about a older car with a kswap (eg, dc2 etc)...an em2 is alot like a ep3 civic si and it doesnt require as many custom parts to do the swap.

I loaded up a tsx base map since that is what joe at locash said to do until i get it tuned. which will probably be in august. i didnt crank it over though cause i was short a quart of oil.

^cause that is where i decided to put it. i didnt want it in the back cause of the exhaust manifold It was originally back there then i decided to cut it and put it where it is. the positioning doesnt matter. im just keeping it closer to the cooler air

Yeah I am definitely not liking all those hoses. I have to figure out a way to hide all that crap.

when i give it gas it dies sometimes when the rpms are coming back down. is that a symptom of injectors being too small? I had already planned on modifying them so they put out more gas but am curious if that is the problem or if there is something else wrong

i still have to bleed the clutch and re-assemble my interior

It requires rewiring on a D17 harness and mine still isn't complete. I'm not sure what you'd need. Contact Weeman, he's put in the time on mine so far, but yes, the newer 05+ (I think) used a wideband and thats what I bought. I don't think it's that big a deal for you since you can run closed loop. I just want it because KPro has a feature called lean protection, which is great for the turbo setup.

i loaded up a tsx base map and changed my injector size per joe's advice but it isnt running very smoothly so he said not to drive on it

That's an awesome build, hopefully all the problems stop and you can enjoy it.

Have you gotten on it yet? i bet it moves.

k24's are a BITCH to bleed all of the air out the cooling system. almost all the k24 swaps i have done took a long ass time to do this. try jacking up the front end of the car VERY HIGH and running the engine with the radiator cap off...this will let the air escape and it will bubble out. squeeze the radiator hoses too while its running....when the radiator fans start coming on and going back off by them selves it isnt running hot any longer.

^ yeah once i got it home i let it run for like 25 minutes with the cap off and it was still bubbling like crazy. That was my problem though...i forgot to bleed the cooling sytem before i drove it....at least thats what i hope is my problem.

I dont really want to get on her just yet. She still needs to be tuned. She is running pretty rough right now. With my small exhaust leak and the rough idle she sounds like a hot rod with cams kind of...sounds cool

My d17 was the same way. Takes some time to get those bubbles out. Joe has a cool little tool for getting them out.

ummm do tell what this tool is

it is a funnel that attaches to the radiator...it is pretty tall and raises the coolant level above the motor so that the bubbles come out easier.

ummm it's a yellow thing that looks like a bucket. It seals around the radiator cap so that when it fills with water, it doesn't leak out of the cap area.
