In case any of you were thinking of boost, be prepared to deal with this stuff.

Car has been pushing coolant and had excessive pressure in the coolant system hours after the car was turned off. Luckily, there was an obvious reason once I pulled the head.

Head is off to get milled....

Who did yours?

It's interesting that the gasket was getting eaten up on the intake side only...

I guy that works for my uncle(my uncle owns a bunch of midas shops in the valley)...$150 for a valve job and mill

I can get you the number tomorrow if you want it

the guy used to own a head shop so he has all of the equipment in his garage

Rufus

If both are quality work and he can get it done by early next week, I'll bring it to him tommorrow. Otherwise I'm taking it to 1320 per Ravi's suggestion.

he did mine in 3 days...and he knows what he is doing.

you would need to drop it off at the midas shop at 68th and peoria

PM me your number and ill have the guy call you tomorrow

id show you some pics but i put the head back on today

Rufus

How smooth was the surface?

sniperscout
06-11-2008, 11:24 PM
ummm...smooth
i didnt really check that too thoroughly...was more interested in the valves.

I ran my finger across it and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary

this guy does all the head work for midas...its not like he just does side stuff in his garage.

Rufus

I trust that and the price is good. I'll PM you my number.

So who's smart enough to tell me why my gasket is deteriorating in the rear and my pistons are so damn clean back there too? Too much heat in the back?

cbaracing
06-12-2008, 11:28 AM
the coolant leaking into the cylinders is "cleaning" the piston

did you bleed the coolant system?

Rufus
06-12-2008, 11:29 AM
So why is it happening on the intake side of every cylinder?

cbaracing
06-12-2008, 11:47 AM
thats where the head is lifting

Rufus
06-12-2008, 11:49 AM
I'm not a fan of this head lift phenomenon

this is exactly why im very skeptical about the d17 turbo setup..seems like its too much trouble, everyone i hav seen doin it has issues and eventually takes it out.

Rufus

I won't take it out. I'll offer someone a retardly good deal on my car and I'll turn it into a G35.

Rufus
06-12-2008, 03:55 PM
lol That's the entire stereo for the cost of the head unit.

That's and entire turbo kit for a little over the cost of KPRO

That includes the following for FREE: Tint, Ep3 seats, S2000 steering wheel, new brakes, new headgasket, short shifter, molded dash, power trunk, sedan handles, rs grill, entire lip kit.

That's also my wheel setup for what I just paid for new Parelli's alone.

You find new wheels.

Rufus

Rufus

lol well that's an option too but you'd get a WAY better deal buying mine and just selling yours. Mine blue books at $7900. That's $3,100 in upgrades. You'd pay $2,550 just buying my turbo kit. Is getting all of that other shit for nearly FREE worth it? Plus mine has new paint yo...

Forgot to mention the front bumper is shaved too!
