You could probably call the police and ask, but you could also lose the motor.

The Only Way To Find Out Is Having The Police Run It, They Have A Web Page Only Available To Them, If You Want I Can Give You A Detectives Number And You Can Ask Him But If It Comes Back Stolen They Will Take It, And They Can Charge You

I use this all the time before buying or working on transmissions with VIN plates (FYI - it won't work for serial numbers though). It works great!

I used to do that to BUT

Lets say your car gets stolen and its recovered it is removed off of the website.. (what the det. told me)I asked

So just call up phx pd ask for a detective and ask to run the vin or serial number they will no problem.

That site only works on vehicles that are stolen at the time, so if a car is stripped of its motor and trans and the police find the car the vin will no longer be considered stolen on that site

He is right...
