after you sand it down get a rubbing compound and a clear coat polish. first you put on the compound and rub it in with a damp soft spung or a buffer. then use the polish and it should work. it worked for a friend of mine.

If you got the spots out, clean the entire hood with soapy water. Follow up with grease and wax remover.

Sand the entire hood with 600 grit wrapped around a paint stick - don't use your hand or fingers. Sand in a criss-cross pattern until the hood is flat, but dont go through the clear. You can also scuff it up with Scotchbrite instead of sandpaper if you want instead.

Shoot three coats of clear. First a light tac coat then two heavier coats. I like Limco from BASF. A quart should be plenty.

Color sand with 1500 grit then 2000. Go in all one direction this time, not criss-cross this time. You can try buffing it out with a wool pad and 3M Finessit. You might have to use a cotton pad with some light compound if the Finessit won't take the scratches out, then finish up with Finessit.

Or....... take it to a shop and have them do it.
