Ok guys, are there any events coming up that are local? it seems only a few are serious about racing down here in tucson, so how about phx?

I know there are a couple of turbo honda's that have run 9's in phx and none in tucson. Is the sport dying? Who out there is building a serious track car? I know of 3 here in tucson 2 are turbo and 1 is all motor.

That is serious, I have a Civic Si that last Dynoed 485 WHP but I have just put a bigger turbo on my car which should put me about 630WHP, hopefully it will be dynoed next week by Tim. My car was running mid 11's @ 127mph and hopfully now 10's.

I am AZ_Civic's brother . . . so do not sanction him for anything I have to say. I have been into fast cars since my late father bought a 1970 Dodge Challenger back in 1985. We had a 1969 Ford Galaxy 500, Baja Bugs, 1960's Impalas, - lots of cars. Our father was a machinist by trade. Naturally, I went the domestic route and own a 1970 Mercury Cougar with a 351 Windsor - which is fairly well built. When I bring this car to the track, it will run 14's - guarenteed. I feel that is a respectable time for any kind of car. I still have some work to do on the drivetrain, and then I hope to be running 12's with a naturally aspirated motor when the work is complete. I used to go to the track with my brother quite often, and we did see quite a few Honda's running 15's, 14's and 13's, and I have tremendous respect for those cars. As my brother mentioned on another thread, we saw some slower cars on Friday night at Firebird. I have to say, it was kind of boring watching some of the cars there. I guess the frustration is this: I do not drive my Cougar daily, or even weekly or monthly. I drive a Scion to work and around town - great gas. I have aboslutely nothing done to my Scion, I do not race on the street - I do not even really speed with it. What bothers me is when I pull up next to a Honda that has a coffee can exhaust, a body kit, and the driver is stairing at me with a messed up look. Then they start to rev. Now I do nothing, but inside I wish they would follow me home, let me get my Cougar out of the garage, and I would smoke them cause I know the car revving at me is a piece of garbage. I am not accusing anyone on this site as being one of these people, but if you are, just know when you rev at people, you should back it up with a fast ride. When I am at the track, and I see a car running 17's, and they look like the type that revvs at me on the street, I laugh at them. If you are not one of these types of drivers - you should not take offense to this. If you are someone with a slower car, but you are working hard and saving, good for you - I hope one day your car can smoke mine. I would be the first to congradulate you. The fact is, there are times I drive away from the track in a different car, like my scion, or a hyandai, or some other non fast car . . . and I hit the freeway and see the same asshole who just ran a 17 revving at me and trying to race me. I want to laugh cause I just saw what a piece of shit the car really is. Again, if this is not you, don't be offended.
So here is some advice: people waste money on alot of things. If you are really into racing, save your money. When you are ready to get something done, get it done and be proud of it. But, keep it at the track, and understand that you are responsible for the perception of your peers. If some of your peers are acting like assholes on the road, put them in check - and keep drag racing alive.

going to push the stock to 600whp. I have an extra block at home that is going to get built. Once the stock one goes shooting for 700whp on the built on the built one. Hopping for a low low 10 at 600whp and 9's at the 700whp. Did you see the fuel system i did on it?

Tim at Xact was guessing on 109 octane maybe 28psi. I think that should get me in the 10's which would be nice, especially since their is only a handful of hondas running 10's.

Yeah it registered, full coverage insurance, and I drive it around. It's not my DD but I cruise on the streets and take it to work at least once a week.

I don't know about low 10's... best ive seen was 10.6, and i think it was trailored that nite.

I know Jake has driven his car to the track and gone faster...

So many people want to build cars to run these times but to do it reliable costs ALOT more than most people think.

I just picked up some more parts for my car back east...but its not going together untill i get a gearset lol I hate working on cars and only want to do the trans once.

:poke:I hope to drive mine again only been in the 11's but wasn't hitting full boost for some reason's. It seems like even though you spend a lot of money and time in tunning these dam cars, they are fricken temprimental on track days...even the ones that are driven to the track..
I just got my new FAL to put in and changing my Dizzy, hopefully this clears up my break ups...hope to run with some people when I get out again.. All my crotch rocket boys wana ride out with me to the pav's. I'm just buring turbo seals like no ones bidness...sucks

all the dudes with fast hondas leave them at home because of stupid car jackers, let me tell you that i fucking love racing and thats what i am all about. I will be running 12's next time i go out and hopefully by end of year i can get a 11 in once i get a semi built engine into my ride. Right now i am boosted and i have been racing a lot. Just a stock b18c jdm gsr with 8 psi. everyone here though seems to just wanna make their honda LOOK nice my goal is Good looks and speed.

Its just funny how Manny and Jake are probably the two fastest Hondas running right now in AZ and they're just privateers. You'd figure a shop of some sort would have a fast car to help promote some more business but it is extrememly expensive and most shops probably aren't doing to good right now or just don't have the time to build a race car. I just think if more shops started racing it would help bring in a few more racers and more spectators.

I believe the Tucson drag racing seen will get much better and in a hurry. I Kno of 6 motors that are in the build process including my own and when they are complete its going to make for some great All Motor Showdowns at SIR. Not to mention Collectives drag car could quite possibly come back out bigger and better than ever before. The drag seen isnt letting go just yet come November sport compact drag racing is going to get real fun!!!

but on the real, lets keep in mind how our economy is doing. People are spending fortunes on shit they used to either not worry about, or pay very little for.

There is plenty of motivation out there, i see it every weekend. Everyone's time nowadays is consumed by making sure they can live decently. And it SUCKS!!!! All these dreams you hear day in and day out that sound SOOOO good, they just never fall through cuz plans have to change.

i should know. my life's changed drastically in the last few months.

KEEP IT ALIVE. would you rather watch soccer instead?????
