I just got off tha phone with wells fargo and they are being some BITCHES...
One sentence story:
I ordered from a company that set me up for recurring charges for some reason and now I have two extra charges on my shit that I dont want.

Now they are talkin bout me needing to jump thru all these dam hoops before I can get my money back in 30+ days.

I wanna cancel my account but it would just take longer...

So I'm thinkin bout just goin back to cash in tha safe for a lil while...

What about you kids?
do you Bank? Dont bank? just save up with the bank?
recommend any better banks?

Bank just with a better bank. Wells fargo is notorious for charging fee's up the ying yang and not reversing. Chase can be just as bad for this. Honestly for a person who isn't "loaded" Bank of America might be your best bet. Just bs them and tell them you want a Campus Edge checking account. No charges for being under a certain balance or anything crazy like that. Or find a small denovo bank in the area that you like. Ton's of denovo's in phoenix.

I bank and use a few different ones. I have to cash alot of personal checks and do so in a few states. So Wells Fargo, BoA, NB of Arizona, and Chase all have my vote. I used to have alot of trouble saving so I opened up a bunch of accounts and slowly put a little into each. I noticed if I have a bunch of diff accounts I spend less, makes me think I have less money than I really do.

yupper I love bofa I worked their and still bank their any charges not authorized by urself would almost be removed immediately...and as to where keep ur money I hav a stash in a safe deposit box at the bank..ur best bet for banks is bofa and wudnt hurt to hav a credit union account(good for loans) neither more money spread out. just my .03 cents

My advice is to close out the account. Those charges will continue to go through until you give the company charging you written notice 30 days in advance, that seems to be the norm. Obviously if you have direct deposit you'll need to get that switched over asap.

Did you inform the rep that the charges were fraudulently being charged? I would suggest even a credit union being that you're in Tucson and the bank I work for doesn't operate there :(

I recommend getting a WaMu account, their staff is *ahem* friendly to say the least.

Yeah I just banged the girl who set up my account. What! :) Seriously.

you work there then I take it? Had a lady that changed accounts over after someone made fraudulent charges to her wamu account and wamu didn't reimburse. This was about 3 years ago. Any turth or certain circumstance that would cause this?

Oh and btw unless your fee's are reversed even if you close the account I think they would report you to check systems unless the balance is paid.

Yep.

A rule of thumb for dealing with discrepencies on your account, regardless of what bank you bank with, go IN PERSON. You won't get shit done over the phone. I'll be the first to admit that the telephone banking services are not the most helpful and in some cases give incorrect info, very annoying.

like jagermeister said, your best bet is to get the charges disputed close the account and open a new account.. you really cant do anything else.
and wamu will not reverse any fees unless it is bank error.

Is that hard to understand? Just a general question. I've had people come in to argue about fees which were charged due to their own usage. A lot of it comes from people not understanding the Debit & Credit feature of the debit card. Another little tip I always give is when checking your balance, dont just check the available balance check the activity as well, that way you can see if items have gone through or if items havent appeared yet.

what bank do you work for?

and yes, dont just rely on the available balance, remember what you use ur debit card for because sometimes your available balance will say you have money but the transaction you did the 4 days ago at the mom and pop shop or gas are not included on that balance thats showing.

Problem # 1: You bank with Wells Fargo.

Problem # 2: You called via phone to deal with a dispute. GO in a branch.

If you want to run the risk with a "safe" in your house, go for it. Otherwise you can go somewhere like WAMU or to a credit union since most are not for profit, therefore you generally get better service, lower loan rates, and higher savings rates.

set up a savings account with HSBC online...3.5% interest rate on the account and there is no minimal amount required..so you can have $5.00 in there if you wanted too...then open a checking with a credit union

no bank will reverse chargers that are your fault. end of story.

and wells fargo like every other bank offers free accounts with zero balance.

I have several different accounts at different banks and all seem to be about the same. My only truly bad experiences have been with National City when I was back in Michigan. I had a few debits that came up every month, one was $2. and the other I think $4., and could never get any kind of explanation or help. There was no info as to who the money was going to so I assumed it was the bank. I had some monthly charges before, that were "set up" for me after using Travelocity or something and it showed contacts as to where the "fees" were going. Those were easy tomget rid of.

I finally got tired of them and since there were no branches out here I closed the account. A month later I get a notice that I have a negative balance. Turns out those monthly charges came through and National City re-opened my account and charged me the fees, of course there was no money in the account as it had been closed, so I also got insufficient funds charges of $38. for each of the fees. This started a big old mess so my parents got upset that something similar might happen to them so my mom went in to pull all of their money (its quite a chunk) from the bank, and pay off any loans they had. The bank, of course doesn't want this so they were very helpful in figuring out that my charged were actually from National City for services that they didn't even offer any more and hadn't for over a year.

So the mess got straightened out and my parents still pulled all of their accounts.

Every other bank I have dealt with has done exactly as the account was set up. I always go in to the bank, I'm not big on doing business over the phone. In most cases, if you get charged, you did something wrong. If it was a bank error they will take care of it.

I've always had better experiences with Credit Unions than I have with Banks. I don't know what it is, but its like every time I have a problem, I get it taken care of faster with less hassle at CU's.

I had two accounts before I went to prison, a Desert Schools Credit Union and a WaMu, and because for obvious reasons I was unable to 'bank' for a period of time, DSFCU decided to charge me $5 a month for 'inactivity', but WaMu changed me from monthly statements to quarterly statements, and no fee's. WaMu FTW

they only charge two bucks to talk to someone if its something the automated service could have done. if you call and waste someones time to check your balance when you could have done it on the auto system they charge you. O and its wells fargo policy to waive the fee if you ask.

B Of A recently dramatically increased their NSF's and Overdrafting fee's to keep up with their loans which are going to shit with the economy.

Chase is great. Only problem I've had was that they canceled the wrong card I requested cancled.

listen i worked at a bank for several years.... dont close the account. those reoccuring charges are whats called pre authorized debits. if you close the account they still have the possibility to come through and reopen your account because technically you owe them them money. you do need to folloow up with the bank as well if not more importantly the company that is charging those debits. its annoying yes, to jump through all those hoops but you are basically trying to get the bank to not pay something you legally aggreed to pay.. does that make sense? its not the responsibility of the bank to make your account do what you want. when you give out access to other companies like that there are bound to be a few hiccups here and there. just gotta take em up with that company and press on.

I bank and use Chase, they are scattered all over AZ. Although my friends parents live in Las Vegas, and I guess there are NO branches there. I dunno if there are any other major cities without them. Also banking is secure, but like people said, there are fees associated with it. And also, if your card gets jacked, or even if you lose it, call it in! Otherwise all your money is gone and its a bitch to get it back. My brother left his Chase card at the local Jack in the Crack, and before he even realized its gone, he had over $150 in charges.
