I cant choose because I like them both in their own ways. I like the evo for its sharp performance, and I like the sti because it seems to me they put a lot more work into the interior.

you might want to get your facts straight. what is unreliable about evos? if you keep up on maintenance they are very reliable. subarus spin rod bearings all the fucking time, they start to grind in 3rd and 4th all the time, they go thru clutches almost as fast as evos, and they cant make as much power.

the evo weak points are clutch and sometimes the tranny depending on your driving thats it.

i will agree tho the build quality of the interior is shitty as hell in an evo

valid point. evo RS are badass as well. although finding an unmolested one is pretty difficult, but i havent put much time into it cause i love my subie :)

ANY car is gonna have trans/clutch issues if you are teh suxxorz are driving it haha

i just love the way subies sound...that HO-4 tone is unmistakeable...

with evos you can squeeze quite a bit moar power outta em, which makes em kings at the 1320.
throw cams in an evo, it comes alive...cams in a subie...its about the same :ballin:

o well....they are still both badass cars, even though the new volovolution X and mazda STi are here...:ugly:

If you're talking about the new 08 models, get the STI. Much quicker than the new evo in all aspects, and it doesnt look like shit. The new Evo is slightly more powerful but weighs somewhere around 300LBS more than the 07's which causes a lot of issues in the twisties.

If you're talking about getting a older model, its really a tough decision. If you go for a STi, make sure you know about the 2007 ECU issues. Some have had issues with the stock fuel maps which cause the car to ping in high temp/high load conditions. There was even one guy who's motor blew at only 3,000 miles. The other side is that the 07 ecu's are much more tunable to mods and have seen larger gains compared to the older models, you just HAVE TO tune it, so be prepared for that.

Evo's are great, and i think they might be a little bit cheaper to mod as well. The only issue i've herd about them is the clutches dont last too long if you drive them hard. Also the trannies and diffs have been known to have issues as well(probably mostly driver error caused) I know that the 6 speed trannies are slightly weaker than the 5 speeds though so keep that in mind. Used evo's are also cheaper than STi's as ive seen some go for as low as 15k.

Its all preference and what you like, I loved my suby but there were definitely thing I didnt like about it as well. If I could do it over again I would of waited for the 08 model to come out.

x2 06 subi FTW a buddy of mine has a rotated mount gt35r pushing 20lbs on stock block.. i think he made 496 to the wheels... somewhere's around there... lets just say it hauls ass
