Looking for a free music editor.

hey guys i am looking to download a free music editor where i can fade songs together. i am doing a small project and i don't want to add three music files when i could add just one mixed file. anyone know of a good downloadable free music editor? I know you get what you pay for but I'm just experimenting at this point in the project.
