I have had so many cars already I guess you just learn what you love when each one is sold. I have had over 20 something cars in my life. Everything from my muscle car 900hp Chevelle's, Toyota lowered Mini trucks, Lifted 4Runners, Hydrolics on wires cars, CVCC Honda's, EK's, Ef's, and I still can not ever turn down buying a good old EG. It is the only car I have sold so many times that I couldn't stand not having one to work on when I do not have one. So you learn what you love after 15+ years of cars. Everyone is different but I love the EG for a million reasons more than the EK or EF's.

I've owned 2 CRXs, 1 EF hatch, 1 EF sedan, 5 EG hatches, 1 EG sedan, 1 EK hatch, 2 EK coupes, and this is what I think:

EF - Good - cheap, simple, solid bodies that don't dent too easily, lightweight, EFs have a more solid, planted feel to their handling, you can actually put shit on the dash and it won't fall off,CRX is a classic.
Bad- styling is a bit too 80s econobox-ish, dash is ugly and cheap looking, non-Honda people think you just drive it because you can't afford anything newer. Probably won't help you get laid.

* I've owned more EGs than EFs, but I kept the EFs much longer. These cars have really grown on me.


EG - Good - HB is the coolest looking Honda ever (except for maybe a CRX with JDM front) Easier engine swaps. Ridiculous amount of aftermarket stuff. Basically as lightweight as an EF. Awesome interior - I love the funky headrest supports, and the swoopy dash is pure sex.

Bad - Flimsy sheet metal that dents too easily, Hard to find a hatch with a body that's worth a damn, nice coupes are getting harder to find, too many have been riced out,sprayed with primer, or just beat to shit. Too attractive to thieves.

EK - Good Plenty of clean ones still around, most modern styling, bodies are more durable than EGs.

Bad - Heaviest of the three, OBD2 can be a pain in the ass with more sensors and bullshit to break, stock seats suck, the styling of the rear of the hatchback sucks - Honda should have used the coupe taillights, too many came with the cheap looking light gray interior.
My main beef with EKs were that they felt too much like "real" cars. I like to feel like I'm cruising the streets in a go-kart toy.

I voted EG, but really they're all great cars with tons of potential.

Looks play a very small part when you are concerned about engineering aspects. That is why most people would choose an EG. I assume the only reason the heavy ugly EK is still up there in votes is because of the younger generation of kid on here that like newer cars. IMO if it is not an EG, then it is my Chevelle, I do not like to many other cars because I have had so many. When you have had as many cars as I have had then you learn what works best for your tastes. All the EF's I have owned were a waste of my time and could never sell them for what I put into them. I would never invest in another EK either, too heavy, too ugly, I do not like the way they are engineered, and I do not like the bug ugly bug eye head lights, or the goofy hatch, or the handling capabilities. That is why I am selling my EK to by my 10th EG hatch. EG FTMFW!!!!!!!!

It is cool to be unique and people can respect that the same way I like the 60's Chevelle more than any Honda, However this thread is about which of the three is better. Clearly any engineer or serious Honda enthusiast would not vote the EF the best of the three. That is cool that you have your unique love for what you call old school look, but to me old school look is a broke poor look too, and this thread is about the best.

I have driven my fair share of all of these, and the eg is the nicest car. style, quality, features, interior layout, and engine selection. It is certainly my favorite. I think the ef comes in a close second for its light weight and ease of working on. the ek is just meh to me.

I choose EF's. Only type of cars that seem cool and OG and I'm all about the Old School. I can't stand bubbly ass ugly looking EG's and Ek's seem too out of place. I'm tired of people disregarding EF's because they are "too old" when in fact they are only 3-6 years older than there car and they run even better and still run strong. EF's require patience to have and unlike alot of honda enthusiasts they dont have what it takes whether it be patience or just sticking one to the crowd and rocking a 20 year old car, so they dont deserve to own one. :) I've had two EF's and driven in my buddies EK and my ex's EG. Both were Borrrrrring...EF's are just lightweight and fun as hell to drive, stock or not. EG's and EK's are only fun after you dump $2000-3000 into the engine bay and you lower it so it doesnt look like a 4x4 Jeep.
