not necessarily my incident happened at a public high school and i went to small claims because the kid wasn't insured but after 8 months i won and haven't received my money yet. I've given the unisured motorist coverage a thought after my friend got hit at a stop sign and they didn't have insurance and had to pay for everything out of his own pocket. Well I have been in contact with the owners insurance, but neither the owner or the driver will return the insurance companies calls to verify the incident. I am thinking about going and knocking on their door. Tell them to get their shit together. And make them call while I am in their presence.

ask about the time frame that the policy holder (the other guy) has to call before they proceed with the file. its kind of an unspoken fact but they usually have about 30 days. If still no contact after 30 days from the point they had all the contact info they will assume that the other guy is admitting fault and proceed with you.

worst case scenerio you will have to use your own insurance, pay deductable, any other fees that may be incoorporated with that (like rental % that you are responsible for) but once your car is fixed your insurance company can subrogate the other company to get your deductable back. unfortunatley tho about this route it can take up to 90 days, and legally your rental car expenses cant be included in the subrogation demand.

oh and i suggest you dont go to thier door. reason being is that may cause a conflict of intrest... basically a can of worms you dont wanna open. If they are already ignoring everyone they are technically incriminating themselves already. so ont blow that, if you show up they can saw your harrassing them, and get all crazy on you. it sounds stupid.. but ive seen it done. DONT DO IT.
