alright so i just scored a 5 lug and it will come with arp extended wheel studs, and i have a very clean set or CTR wheels I'd like to run but what lug nuts should i run?

I have heard bad things about aftermarket lug nuts on OEM wheels, so any help will be appreciated.

thanks

o wow, yay for more stock parts right??

to answer ur question. after market lugs are shaped like acorns at the bottom because after market wheels have dipped lug wells, the acorn shape is necessary because of this. oem wheels have flat surfaced lug wells so a flat ended lug (oem/stock <--- LOL at stock just like my car right??) is needed...

so pointed/acorn shaped lugs (aftermarket) won't put enough of the lugs surface area down on the flat lug wells (oem wheels) to safely secure the wheel.

k?

go to discount tire or vatozone...and as for open ended "hubcap" lugs for a honda...they'll have plastic ring or washer round them...guess its to hold the hubcap? dunno I've never had steelies....

but thats what vatoze gave me....its an open ended "ball end" shape for all OEM honda wheels...bout $.95 each lug......

I run extended studs on OEM wheels......

Ummmmm... You got it backwards.

Aftermarket = 60 degree (<-- most are this) or 45 degree flat lugs

Stock = Acorn (mostly)

I have extended wheel studs and when I used to run my stock wheels to drive around on the street with, I just used stock lug nuts but I cut the very tops of the lugs off so the stud could stick all the way through (but the seat part still contacted with the wheel correctly).

how so? i guess it depends on what side of the acorn u look at :sucker: i always thought acorn was meant as pointy and that's how i thought i explained it...

I think we're saying the same thing but using different terminology. Hell maybe I am wrong on which one is called the "acorn" style???

Simon is definitely right pointing out that "ball/radius" is stock

Your pic shows a aftermarket lug on the left and a stock one on the right.

The part that touches the wheel has a very slight curve or radius to it which would be similar to the parts that would contact the wheel if you used an "acorn" like your pic above so I've always associated "stock" with "acorn".

thank you guys.
i was just a little confused when chinky had said that aftermarket lug were "acorn" style then tage said stock were "acorn" style. But i think ill stick with what tage did with the stock lugs (then cutting the tops) or what SlowCivicHmm said about the lugs from autozone
