thinking of moving to de3. My brother thinks I'm about ready, but I'm skeptical. I do like the idea of more open passing options, but I think I need t run a few more drills first?

much faster drivers IMHO. You learn more about your surroundings,and getting more out of your car by honing your skills even further.Brett,who ran 3 for 4+ years,just to drop back into 2 to get the feel of things again

yeah there does appear to be faster drivers. Something I've learned from racing motocross for so many years is that you don't get much faster by racing/riding/driving with slower people. I am definitely wanting to hone my skills and improve. I think I would benefit a lot from following some faster drivers for a while and DE2 is fun for sure, but I don't feel challenged enough.

I know that I would like to move through DE3 and on to DE4/TT before next fall. That way, I can continue to improve at a steady pace and add the necessary things to the car to get it ready for even more.

Bottom line, I am interersted in race group but funds and time will dictate when.

1- a car that you feel comfortable racing-

the loose boys have since sold all thier Type Rs for beer can civics- 1-2k for a shell that I can swap my stuff over when and if i ever have a misfortune-

2- safety gear- good helmet, hans, suit, fire x, gloves, shoes, bat kill, fixed seat, rollcage, window net, harness ect-


its alot of money but if plan ahead, you can find smoking deals while you build your DE car into a race car- thats what I did- if you know what class you want to be racing in, and plan ahead and build to spec- you will save a small fortune if you plan accordingly

u don't have to sit behind them...put on the heat....get a lil close let them know you are there....if they can drag you on the straight, that means they can put up with lil heat and take it....if they can't they'll pucker up and let you pass for sure.....

At the last Redline event I was talking to Chris about his car and I didn't even realize that the car he runs for TA is not even his "drag car". The drag car makes around 2000HP!!! The 400-700HP is *just* the TA car...

As long as I can get my car back together in the next 3 evenings, I'll be going heads up against Chris in the CRA TA.

- Add coolant & bleed
- Fabricate a new splitter
- Attach the bumper (<-- need to make *some* new mounts since the originals got damaged so I just cut them off)

If time permits:
- Attach headlight covers (<-- replacing headlights since those got damaged)
- Rattle can paint job on the new fenders
- Fabricate new front tow hook
- Fill all my NAWS bottles...

we spun a rod bearing in practice the day of the race and stuffed a new bearing in by dropping the oilpan and rodcap and stuffing in a new one in the paddock and crossing our fingers, lasted 2 laps before it started knocking real hard and eventually pop!:tits:

Dude, just a get a price from Acuraparts247.com, and call up the dealerships (local) and see who will match another (out of state) dealers price. You'll end up paying an extra 7-10, but worth not having to wait months for one to pop up.

Only the lower should be different. The head doesn't care what the deck height is. Type-R and GSR are the same for the inner/outer upper covers. It's a pain for me to cross-reference Honda and Acura parts here at work.

Jose: Campus Alignment in Tempe at Loop 202 and Rural does "race" alignments. I use them. Many of the local autocrossers in the east valley have used them also. I recommend them.

Most alignment places won't touch a lowered honda cause they won't clear the rack

Most alignment places can't understand why you would bring the car in for an alignment only to get settings that will wear the tires faster.....that or they physically can't measure negative camber past 1.5 or 2.0 degrees.

I usually go to Jack's Alignment for mine.....no issues clearing the rack, reason I go there is its a pit style alignmnet no pc's....all hand measured and done etc etc.....I can be 1in off the ground and they can do it....they do listen to what you want, but talk back to say the least....

I havent been at PIR since last year and it is really encouraging seeing so much young(and slightly older) blood at the track. phil, nolan, simon, matt, eric, josh(didnt meet), )craig etc... you guys definatly have the addiction that will soon turn your nice jdm cars into beatup racecars like mine and jeffs! :you rock:glad i could help some of you out, hope you guys ALL make it to race group. beers at place soon for an unofficial DL

Nice pics.
Really stoked about the whole event! Had a good time Saturday in DE2 and moved up to DE3 for Sunday. I was lucky enough that Tage, Jeremy, Jason Boles and everyone let me jump into the Time Attack for my first crack at it. Special thanks to Boles for lending me the $20. Surprised myself and am extremely happy with a 1:15.5 in TA....cough cough Jeff, Dan...tires.
Thanks again to everyone who makes these events possible and I can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend to do it all again!

I know you said that you had a few mistakes during your T/A, but falling off 4-5 seconds between one T/A session and one, 30minute race is ridiculous. Tony's car had a lil bit of an issue with the fuel pump. The car popped a fuse leaving it unable to travel down the track at high rates of speed. He was also slinging CV grease due to a pinhole in the boot.
Thats the story I got from him at the unofficial download at his place involving keg beers....

Eric...you can join me in TA-C if you desire...its not very practical though
