View Full Version : HEAD swap?timing

okay so i did the head swap off 7th gen forum everything bolted right up and all the connections are in. i tried the timing like 3 times the way the haynes manual says but its not working i tried it a lil diff and we wer able to get flames to shoot out the cylinder head on the ehaust side cuz at the time i didnt have the header on!!! im really getting frustrated on this now if ne one can help me figure out the timing issue id appreciate it.

common guys 15 views and no one can say ne thing???!!! i just need to figure out how to find the compression stroke since i removed the belt already. im figuring that ive been setting the time backwards and thats why it doesnt turn over but i dont know how to figure out which is the compression stroke!!!!!

why not just go to the stealership and have them do it or see if rc or someone could help you out?

dealership proly wants an arm and a leg. ima probly take it apart again tomorrow and re do everything ill probly make sure i dont have ne bent valves if i do then my car will be out of comission for a another week and im not posting pics up of the car complete with my lip and all till i get this ish done

361 at stealership 528 if you get water pump. Stmpo would of done it for like 150 or so I think was the price, but not sure if they even do work now.

that's to do everything with the timing belt not the head. From what you posted sounded like you needed help getting timing done... That's for a new belt hell it might be even cheaper than what I said.

i think you are using the term compression stroke incorrectly. What exactly is the issue? belt jumping? cant find TDC for the number 1 piston?

but he got it to start up today I think thats what he texted me

actually i was trying to find the TDC on the #1 piswton i took the head off and on today like 3 times to see if it was something else. it didnt start up so i thought i was doing everything wrong! but once i put the other head on the stock one everything went fine so im guessing the a2 head needs some work done to it. i wasnt doing ne thing wrong so it was the head. man i was begining to doubt myself but its freakin easy man after a few times of getting the head off and on after the head gets re-done its going back in so untill then im back to stock :(

:grin: i think a wize man had said to go n tak the head to get worked on n cleaned first then put it on.:idiot: at least i think thats what i remember him saying. :type:you knw (MY DAD)!!!!! oh yea n next time dnt 4get to buy oil. but hey at least you got some practise in on taking off n puting on the head. lol:thumbup:

non vtec head to vtec yes

no thats why he bought a vtec controller so he could use his stock ecu

thanks jason and yeah i was doing the lx to ex swap. theres a write up on the 7thgen civic forum. thats where i got the idea from. its not hard i just didnt listen to some ppl and get the head checked like i shoulda!!!

:poke: hey i didnt say you couldn't do it. i'm just saying you maybe could of saved some headache's, by making sure the head was good in the 1st place. :bananaman: but hey it was werth a try. maybe next time well get it. we might need some new belts next time just 2b safe. timeing, n all the others 2. but thats just a sugjection.:hello:
