its much easier to build as there are more aftermarket parts available.

the close ratio 6 speed is much better both for racing and cruising to save gas.

Some of this has been mentioned.....
Type-S has real i-VTEC!
More aggressive Intake Manifold, Larger diameter exhaust system, more aggressive cams, stronger block, better flowing head, 6 speed tranny
Interior differences, Type-S has standard leather, 6 cd changer
Base has black front lip and sideskirts, Type-S is color matched
If you have an 05/06 then the rims are different between the two models

I'd say check out ClubRSX, you wont get far here if you're looking RSX/K20 knowledge

The type s has leather seats whereas the base RSX may or may not have leather. Most bases have cloth seats. I had an 06 RSX base 5 spd and loved it. Yeah a type S would have been nice but the base saved me some $$$. Now I drive an ep3 and love it just as much as my base.

Yeah the k20a3 is basically the economy i-vtec motor (with garbage plastic intake manifolds), while the k20a2 features the 3-lobe vtec mechanism that most are familiar with.
