Since we now have our dedicated Photography section I'd like to see what others shoot with.

Post:
-What body you use (Canon, Nikon, Sony etc)
-Lenses
-Tripods, Stands, etc.
-Lighting, if any
-Bags and other misc. things.
-Also post editing software you use would be cool too!

So now lets see those setups!!

Canon products are more expensive in Japan believe it or not. I buy most my stuff off KEH

The Pentax 50mm 2.8 came with the 1D as a dust cover. It's an all manual lens that's prolly 30 years old at the least.

What do you use as a boom for use with the magic arm and clamp? I'm guessing thats how you take your moving car shots?
Oh, or do you use the for inside the car shots?

ahh I see... lenses for me with that low of an aperature are typically 800-900+.

With the exception of the 50mm fixed at 1.8 but still, thats 350.

I use the magic arm for inside and the sticky pod for outside combined with my remote shutter

Yeah, It's just semi hard trying to find used lenses with the Sony. I can use older Minolta lenses as long as they have a/f (if they don't have it I guess the lens doesn't fit). As for now I think I'm pretty settled in on what I have. Working on getting a good flash and some lighting here soon.

Canon 20D
18-55 EF-S USM (stock kit lens)
Ritz Quantaray 8500QSX Tripod (best tripod for 60 dollars ever)
Lowepro Minitrekker backpack
Lowepro limited canon sling bag
PS CS3

800/900 for a lens is cheap in my opinion... it's obviously not cheap but compared to some of the l series glass that canon has it's pretty cheap.

that was my problem with sony too, i had a minolta af and i loved it but sony had no lens support and finding old minolta stuff is difficult.

the lens' you would be looking for phoenix are maxxum mount lens... they changed the af pattern pre maxxum so you could get an af lens that wouldn't fit. that's why i love canon and nikon with their 25+ years on lens designs.

Yeah, I've found some old Minolta stuff but like I said above, I'm pretty much set from 10-300mm.

Sony now makes a TON of lenses for their DSLR's now so If i want something I usually just buy it new. They also have the Carl Ziess (sp?) lenses that are fucking awesome but you can touch any of that stuff for under a grand.

zeiss glass is the best in the world PERIOD. if you go to the eye doctor check out their equipment it's all zeiss lol...

there's really no point unless you are shooting like total pro images but then you wouldn't be using a dslr like a sony, you'd be using a hasselblad digital.

yeah, I've thought about saving up for some of the Zeiss shit but decided that I don't need it. It'd be fun to have though when other photographers see it. Kind of a "my dick is bigger than your dick" thing lol

Once I burn through this Sony I'm going to upgrade to their 750. that thing is pretty bad ass. On the same level as lots of higher end Nikon/Canon stuff but still a ton cheaper.

I love my Sony. I was going to buy a new Canon but the price was awesome for the Sony. I honestly should've bought a higher model sony, but this one works wonders for me. The main thing is, I'm comfortable using it.

Nikon is not the only one with 25+ years "under their belt"

Canon and Sony (Minolta) are right there with them.

yeah let me take a picture of my setup with one lens...

you want a picture of a camera? google it.

as far as the 25+ years comment...

minolta has a lot of experience running their company into the ground and making poor designs. sony has 25+ of running things properly and making propietary products... this is another reason i'm not a fan of the combination.

Didn't say that at all. Just saying fuck Nikon/Nikkor is based on opinion, not experience-while being that 25+ years is not NOT being of good quality.
Had I said Nikon is the ONLY one with 25+ years, then you>me.
My mom used to have a Minolta...just funny that you reminded me.

you like Honda, I like Ford. Ford has been around longer and were the first ones to mass produce vehicle so does that mean they are better?

No it sure doesn't. I'm just loyal to the brand.

Never said that they were better. Just saying they are experienced and would know what they make while making it well. The same goes for Canon and what not.

it's funny that you say that since quantaray is just sigmas and tamrons, and occassionally tokina lenses repackaged. Ray enterprises stamps their name on it, oh and btw... ray enterprises is one of about five facilities and manufactures that is legally authorized to repair carl zeiss optics... so i'm sure they have no idea what they are doing :\...

once i get my other hd up i'll post some pics i shot with an 18-200 i borrowed from a store i worked for. they were not bad shots for a 200 dollar lens by any means, especially in that range.

any nikon people going to pick up the new AF-S 35mm f/1.8G? i recently got a d40 after selling my rebel xt a few years ago. i got some shitty battery grip off ebay and it was such a piece of shit that i ended up snapping off the part that goes into the battery compartment of the body and just using it for the extra grip haha

i really want a fisheye though. a real one, not the crappy attachment that i currently have

It's a waste since youy won't be able to autof on that 50mm.
that's basically why it's so good, because of its af speed.
if you upgrade from the d40 to something else that can use AF lenses since our D40's are DX.

I'm thinking of selling my D40...
