BFD. You have a faded paint job, your car is kept in a garage, and you drive the car twice a month. Nobody cares if/when/how you wash your beater. On that note, are we suppose to be surprised that a car nicknamed the beater doesn't get washed weekly?

Tage calls BS, Gabe calls BS, Put me down for the under too.
If this gets too lop sided I might have to move the line.

BlueTeg
12-19-2008, 06:13 PM
O RLY bird was used because his posts didn't jive. One said he couldn't time attack cause he wouldn't be there. The other said he'd be there....driving. I guess I should have made the connection that it he would drive al the way out to PIR to tech, then drive back into the EV to run Fireturd. LOL. just busting balls josie.

But I will take the under the under on that 32 available track day count. In fact I'll cut that in half and say that he (or most people on this board for that matter, myself included) will not run 16 days in 2009. Por que?
Porque: Budget, mechanical issues / basic maintenence, and lack of motivation to sacrifice 4 full month's worth of weekend nights to track the car.

ILIKETODRIVE
12-19-2008, 09:28 PM
I think I could hit 16 track days in 2009. I plan on using 2009 as my move-on-up year from DE to TT.

I'll take the OVER on Joser GOING to 16 track days...that doesn't mean he'll drive in all of them.

uuummm yeah track days does mean driving.
:idiot:
im not being a jackass here but come on! for all intensive purposes track days means running your car on the track... not showin up at a track where an event is held. Otherwise i would have said i had a 2 day event in sonoma last year. not too mention numerous track days at laguna seca raceway.

16 is a fair number i think jose/numerous people on the board can hit that..... but 32 is a big number.

LOL....funny...I just wanna beat 18.....we'll see...

32 days is my availability to drive this year......outta the total # of days available...car pending I'll attend 32 days...drive is a diff story, but the plan is simple...19 or more...jaja

I enjoy just going out to the track, sue me...

how would i determine what class my car is?

JoshDC2
12-29-2008, 08:31 AM
for all HPDE there are no classes.
it isnt any actual competition/real racing until TT, race group, or Time Attack

BlueTeg
12-29-2008, 08:39 AM
how would i determine what class my car is?

If you have never been on track before, you will be in HPDE1.
Full classroom instruction in the morning mixed with a an instructor assigned to ride shotgun with you throughout the day to show you the line and brake, throttle, steering, and gear change technique. If you demostrate that you have learned and can apply the techniques shown to you on your first day (most people do), then you can get signed off to run HPDE2 your second day.

Guaranteed you will leave the track wanting to come back again after your first day. For a car enthusiast, this is the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Seriously.

These items NOT REQUIRED to run HPDE. :wave1:

fmx_dbc
12-29-2008, 12:24 PM
I know but I have them and while the car is down...
I need to relocate the battery IN ORDER to install the oil cooler, so I figured why not install the kill at the same time.
Reason for doing the oil cooler now is because I just drained all my oil to replace the pan gasket...and who wants to buy MORE oil just to drain AGAIN?

Find a clean, dry container to reuse it. Much cheaper than spending another $20+ on 5 more quarts of oil, not too mention that hippies and green fiends will love you for it.
One gallon containers of bottled water work well and are uber cheap. Just empty them out as well as you can by hand and allow enough time for them to completely dry (which is not long process in AZ).

JoshDC2
12-29-2008, 07:01 PM

I dont think they would end up on the other side of the IM, but either way, the pistons are intact! May only require a hone and reassembly. I bought ARP head studs and rod bolts today. This is just an excuse to redo things how I want them now! Im not gonna aim for the 10/11th, just take my time with it and make sure dudes assemble it well.

If it is M2000 Snell rated it should work. Worked for me all of last year. It is possible they have updated, but that I have yet to find out
If it DOT only I would assume no

9 is easy. Start wide, apex it properly, and let the car pull you TOWARDS,not into, the wall. But be carefull of other cars when commiting to the turn, and do not divebomb anyone else once you feel comfortable. WTF am I even saying this in here. LOL.........peace

9 is easy cheesy. I think you were just a little crossed up with your hands and footwork. There is alot of shit going on leading up to that corner. I'm surprised that your first instructor didn't correct some of the things you were doing in that particular corner. The fact that you got used to driving like that for 3 sessions I think probably made it tougher for you to break some of those bad habits in nine.

We'll have you big pimpin T9 like she was your 'best girl' with one or two more sessions of help.

yea i hear you. i think i need more confidence in myself and the car also cuz the whole time going on in my head is dont crash.

today when i was driving around i kept thinking in my head get my shifts done and brake in straight line ha

It will really help you out in T2 and T9 if you can practice your heel toe technique before the next event.

A good way to practice is while you're at a stop light with your foot on the brake and the car in neutral. Keep your ball of your foot on the pedal and just practice swiveling/rolling the bottom half of your foot (your heel) onto the accelerator. Start to learn how much effort it takes on your heel to kick the rpms to where you want. Just practice going back and forth for a week or two while you're at stop lights. It shoudl become second nature to you. When it does, then you can try adding the clutch and gear change to it when you're decelerating and all along on the street.

Its faster on the track and easier on your transmission. :bananaman:

its not the bar and its not from not trail braking, it's your increased car control through seat time.
