A buddy of mine at work has a 95 civic. completely stock. today his car wouldn't turn. I looked at it and the axle was terrible, so i replaced that but still wouldn't turn. then i started looking more at it and his steering wheel spins all the way around. The wheels turn a little bit while turning the wheel but then makes a really bad popping noise and the wheels go back straight. can any one tell me what the hell is wrong with this damn car?

yea sounds like a rack and pinion, its not very common for a steering column to break

rack and pinion. look at the intermediate shaft and make sure it's connected good to the rack and not half off or loose.
but...probably need rack and o-pinion
