unfortunately i cant find a place that does blac chrome plating and i dont like the look of powdercoat.

i was thinking about spraying on some dark tinted clear to get a simular look. does anyone know if clear coat will adhere to chrome?

Depends on what your painting, but they make a paint called metalcast that is made to be put on chrome. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html
