I would guess it is because they flow more. I have heard good things about their newer turbos with the extended tip compressor wheels but i have not actually touched one or seen one.

The biggest reason is price. Garrett makes some nice stuff however their price is near 3 times the amount of a Borg Warner. Me and Henry went with it because we wanted to make some more power and with our budget the Borg Warner was the way to go. Jake is switching because he can't make the power with a GT4294R that he needs to be competitive and also price is big thing. Locash started off with the Borg Warner because T1 told him to. Than agan T1 runs in the 8s so they might know what they're doing.

as he said price is a probably a big thing for people. Another thing is that the borg warner 372 has a 72mm inducer wheel as the garrett gt4294r has a 70mm inducer wheel. Garrett also makes the GT4202R which has a 74mm inducer wheel which is 2mm too big to be in the sfwd class in most events. Garrett made about 6 GT4202Rs with 72mm inducer wheel which we happen to have 1 of them. But from speaking to garrett at sema they said they have no plans to make any more unless special order.

Again borg warner, at 1700 bucks i dont see it being a ball bearing.

If your getting a 4294r that cheap, i'd be sellin them left and right almost makin 1,000$ profit! Duh

When you realize the 42r isnt doing what you'd like, you'll be switching to a 372 also.

Let me know, i can get them for 1,300$ local
I have two now.

i dont get them that cheap is just that he gave me that price on this one... and maybe ur right but for now let see what it does...
question... r u guys investing most of the money on your engine turbo set up etc...what about suspension tuning, ... gear and tire size selection, etc... i have been doing a lot of research and for i have seen or read, is possible to run high to mid 9's (even low) with 650-750hp so i was wondering whats the main reason (u think) that people like aaron-henry from full race, joe at locash havent been able to brake into the 9's ( i know it takes a lot than just power) when their cars are in that mark (hp wise)...
my opinion is that making power is the easy part on a race car... but are u guys investing money, time and research everything else...??

note: this is not shit talking or nothing just a straigh up question.

i try telling people that stuff all the time and no one seems to listen to me. they all think its all about big power when really its not about huge power. its about putting that power to the ground and making it stick.

Transmission, its the weakest link in my car. joe just needs seat time, hes only driven his car once since its been together.

I've made 4 passes on my car since I built it, doing everything wrong, lol.. I've got new slicks and fixed a few problems, so I just need the most important thing, driver mods.. :) Seat time is probably the most important thing..

Last time it was on the dyno, it made around 850 @ 32psi i believe and it maxed the fuel system. every car has its own issues, ours just happends to always be the tranny. after the tune, we took it out a few times and couldnt get a clean pass. aaron decided to take the gforce shifter out and put a stock linkage in, and we finally were able to hit gears. then grinds came and we couldnt get it into gear, then he sheared 2nd gear.

Making the power is never the issue as long as you know what youre doing and you have a competent tuner that has tuned high HP Hondas such as Joe at LOCASH RACING. its about seat time and finding a way to put it down to the ground all the way down the track

hey lets not forget manny in this mix. he runs one as well. so far the fastest 3 civics/hondas in town all run them, and from what i can remember they are all in the 9.5x range.

Not everyone is switching from the 42R to the BW.

Joe just threw one on to begin with and we decided to try it out and replace our GTK850 with it.

Manny and Jake are the only ones that went from a 42R to a BW. Jake just recently switched it out this month to the BW because his exhaust wheel has been tired since last year. Manny is on a special BW, we like to call it the HR turbo or the 372 + 2. The only reason he is on it is because a valve guide went through his manifold and tore up his old 42R, which is now fixed but sitting at the pawn shop :rflmao:
