View Full Version : NASA Arizona - April 11th *NIGHT EVENT*

This was already posted in the "Events & Meets" section but it should go here as well to get the proper attention. If you only come to watch ONE event, per year, this is THE event you will want it to be. There is not another event in Arizona of this magnitude...

http://azht.net/forum/showthread.php?t=90752

Last year the Modified article spanned some 30 pages for this event. You should come out to spectate simply for the fact that there's a good chance you'll show up in the magazine somewhere in the background if you're hanging around the Tuner cars all the time.

BTW, I've received about 4-5 emails from drivers outside our "regulars" who want to come to this event to try and qualify. I have no idea if they're any good or if they have fast cars but competition *might* be stiff. Bring your A-Game Honda peeps!

Are they HPDE3 or higher?
They would need to be at least de3 to run TA. Or get signed off for TT.

I assume that they are from out state.

Hyperdrive registration is now open. The first 60 people to register will get to do this event. Getting on track with an instructor for only $40 does NOT come along very often. Here's your chance to get your feet wet for next to nothing!

https://secure.drivenasa.com/event/904

P.S. Some people have complained that it requires a $45/yearly membership. This is NOT true. If you create a new account it will automatically ask you to select a membership but you can cancel/skip that part or simply clear your shopping cart at the end and it will let you register w/o having to buy a 1 year membership.

Bobby, the 1st DE2 session will happen before you get off work. The 2nd one will be somewhere between 5-6PM. I haven't (semi) finalized the schedule yet but I plan to by the end of this week.

Thx! That was me at Mid-Ohio off roading at the NASA Nationals. Nice way to make an impression eh?

Hey heads up all vendors! I need some help distributing fliers for this event to help promote it. If you want to help me do this shoot me a PM. I can mail you out a stack of them (which are good for half off the gate fee $5 vs $10).

If anyone else wants a flier, shoot me your address and I will mail them out to you right away. My only request is that if you want a flier mailed to you, I will send you 5 and I ask that you keep one for yourself and then give 4 away to your friends (preferrably friends that will actually go to the event - LOL!).

FYI - you can also just print out the flier on your computer and the gate people will honor the discount but the fliers are just really cool looking.

Link to the flier that you can print --> http://www.nasaaz.com/events/tuner-shootout/

bump!!! Auto-X has lots of room left people. Sign up and get some seat time while you are out checking out the Modified Shootout stuff going on during the day. Last years event got something like 26 pages of coverage in the magazine. The more photos these guys get between the individual events throughout the day, the better chance we have at making Arizona known for its motorsports excellence!

Tage
03-25-2009, 02:58 PM
Thx Ramin! Not to mention, the autox is only $20 and you'll get 5 runs and not have to WORK like a typical autox. Plus if you PREREGISTER the entire gate fee is waived.

The gate fee is $10

Get $5 off if you have a flier
Get $5 off if you bring a food donation for St. Mary's Food Bank charity.

So you could look at it like $2 per autox run if you preregister! That's dirty cheap...

Ok, so im a newb and want to attend this. I was thinking of doing the hyperdrive event, but what do I need to run? What time do I have to be there, and all that?

What are the advantages of HPDE instead of the others?

How many spots left in the hyperdrive event? Im trying to get some friends to sign up too.

^^ too many questions...not enough commitment...

pay and drive.....commit to being there a few hours....its a fun event....cars to loook at...titties here and there....asses hanging out on models that show up.....etc etc.....

I was there 9am to 2am last year.......you are either in the whole way or 1/2 ass it...up to you......

hyperdrive is like your 1st hit of crack....you'll want DE later.....or kick your ass for not doing DE in the 1st place....stand back and ask yourself.....do I want to track? or just have fun for a day.....

To me track life is like a full time job...grr, but fukkking awesome!

schedules have not been released yet. however, my familiarity with the track says that if you are going for just hyperdrive, show up anytime. if you want to see all of the action, show up around 9am. there will be auto-x, drag racing for modified shootout participants only, and some other goodies.

The tentative schedule is up on the NASA forum.

The bad news: you will miss your first session which is planned for 4ish

The good news: if you work until 5:00 you should plenty of time grab some dinner, get to the track, go through reg, have your car tech'd and prepare for your 2nd session which is scheduled for 7:10. HPDE2 has four (4) sessions for this event.

I know that...if it rains all day long though? I've had a few friends that were going to come express some concern about the rain.
I never did it in the rain before...LOL

berny2435
04-09-2009, 08:14 AM
Worse part about rain is windows fogging up if you don't have a car that can defog them and if it only sprinkles, the track gets very slippery untill enough cars have established a rain line. I'd rather have it poor and then sprinkle. That's my two cents stemming from doing 3 HPDE days in the rain. 2 on street tires, 1 on near full tread RA1s.

topramn
04-09-2009, 08:50 AM
There is no concerns to be expressed. There will be certain actions put into play if it rains but we do not stop the event. Rain tires, slower speeds, caution flags. We are ready. If your are worried about foggy windows in the rain, use RAIN-X fog something stuff. I use it and it works great.

1 more question that I'm sure people that have rain experience can answer...windows up or down in the rain? And will my RA1's be ok in the wet?

How worn are your RA-1's? Mine are worn enough that I'm pretty much SOL if it rains.

This is what happened when I drove on bald toyo RA-1's in the rain...It's safe to say I will NEVER do that again.

Wish I had the funds to FINALLY get out there, but I don't. I really would have liked to run this event too.

I'll be out to spectate at least, and give support any way I can. If anyone needs ANY help around the paddock I will be more than happy to lend a hand.

It's all good you live, learn, and move the fuck on... The thing that sucks is it has delayed me from getting on track which is starting to get irritating.

Anyways, back to topic. I have a friend who was considering running the drift event, but it is sold out. he's going to come out anyway though.

Anyone know where to get any fliers? It's not a big deal if not.

In the east valley:
UMS Tuning (east of Dobson and Broadway)
SRD (just south of Tempe Marketplace on Smith Rd)

Or if you have a printer you can print the flyer out from www.nasaaz.com
Or bring a can of food to get the $5 discount

Cool, I didn't know a printed version would work. Thanks Gabe.
