Hey guys,
I went to bestbuy yesterday and purchased a Nikon D40, I've read reviews and such, and its a really good 'beginer' camera...
Anyone here have experience using it, any tips and tricks?
nikon
no experience with the d40 but if it's anything like my d70s it's dope.
take a drive and take ramdom shots and experiment.

It's a decent 'beginner' dslr. Just don't go out buying a bunch of lenses and accessories thinking they'll make you a good photographer.
Read the manual and when your done, read it again, and then again!
nikon

I like it a lot! it takes super crisp clean pictures, way better than any point-and-shoot i've used. I still haven't figured out how to get good night shots, even on the 'night' setting they still come out grainy or blurred

be careful when buying lenses, only af-s lenses work with the d40. well, other lenses will work but it will always be in manual focus. i like my d40 its good for what i use it for. i want the new nikkor af-s 35mm though. i hate being poor! and its a cheap lens too lol

No need to get a full frame camera especially that one if you aren't pro...

no need for a full frame even if you're pro... to each their own though...
the d40 is good i hate how small it is, i feel like i'm going to drop it everytime... liked my d70 way better than the d40... i prefer my 20d over all though... but nikon really does make the only "beginner" camera in the market. sony and canon are too complicated for most people
