yeah this was posted a while back.. if i remember right after all the vinyl is purchased, and everything it ends up to be the same price if not more expensive than paint. Also in AZ heat it wouldnt hold up very well. I looked into this but quickly changed my mind.

Lets see how it does in 110 degree heat on a black car in phx. If it lasts a whole summer i'd be really suprised. Looks cool though for sure.

Actually if you're willing to do the labor yourself, it can be dirt cheap. Wholesalers online sell the shit for about $30 per yard @ 50" wide.

Heat isn't a problem with this stuff, it's just like the shit that used for vinyl wraps, just better. I've seen plenty of cars wrapped for 3 years or more in this state.

All you want to look for is 2 mil or less CAST Vinyl. Don't buy into the "3M is the only way to go" mentality, Avery and some other companies make some good stuff. Follow the instructions and you'll be good to go.

Here you go:

Link:Matte Black Vinyl (http://www.stickercity.com/51-x-linear-foot-matte-black-wrap-vinyl-sheet.html)

2.0 mil cast black vinyl
2.1 mil cast matte overlaminate
Width is 51 inches
$20 per foot

Good luck!

We used to do this when I worked at AEP.

The heat doesn't affect it as far as I know, and we would have 1-200 cars at a time, on each lot, in the summer, that had vinyl. We had 50-60 Gilbert PD cars that were almost entirely wrapped and never had an issue.

I've also seen private vehicles with full wraps that look great after a couple summers....

And as far as labor etc, it's something that I personally would try to do myself. It's not much difference from tint from what I remember seeing. Just keepin' it taught, etc

Any other places sell this vinyl? I think I'm going to try this on my truck's roof rather than fuck around with repainting a few spots
