EP License Plate Lights

trying to remove the shell that covers the bulb...
seems really simple? but what am i not understanding...
i see the arrow point to the side and saying remove but im not getting anywhere? :(

Would appreciate any help!

much easier to get to the back side and take off the interior panels.
