Here's a few shot's I've taken in the last week or so. All of these were spontaneous, spur of the moment type shots so they're not great, which is why I want peoples opinions. When I have time to sit and think, I do much better but I want to learn how to be quicker I guess lol.

Looks like you guys hit a bump while the shutter was open here. These shots are hard to keep clean. You have to have a REALLY steady hand OR some sort of rigging.
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3438-as-Smart-Object-1_1200.jpg

This one is better IMO. Looks like the flash worked well and got to everywhere that it's needed. Better stability/focus in this pic too.
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3442-as-Smart-Object-1_1200.jpg

This shot just needs set up better imo. It looks like that's how everyone was parked and you just snapped a pic.
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3449-as-Smart-Object-1_1200.jpg

Should not've used flash here. Should've left the shutter open longer or used a higher ISO w/o any flash.
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3454-as-Smart-Object-1_1200.jpg

I like these pics. Pretty good exposure on the subject and in the backround. This is the best time of day for photoshoots as the sunlight isn't super harsh and doesn't create a lot of shadows.
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3514-as-Smart-Object-1.jpg
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3516-as-Smart-Object-1_1200.jpg

Not sure what the light stuff is in the pics but you either need to do way more of it, or do away with it. The pic itself isn't bad though. you're also on the shadow side of of the car though.
http://mattchandler.site90.net/auto/DSC_3800-as-Smart-Object-1.jpg

I just would never take pics of someones car that I didn't know. Or that didn't know I was taking pics.

While sometimes people need to be quick on their feet with photo's, you really need to slow down and take the time to set up the shot with these types of images.
My favorite one was the 2nd pic by far. keep it up.

About the qt cars, they knew. But I didn't have any business cards and my phone was dead...

Thanks for the opinions. I like the flash on the the engine shot. I think it could be better placed, but I'm still waiting for my flash triggers to get here so I'm stuck with on-camera flash for now : /

When you're taking your shots, remember to take your photos from angles people don't normally see your subject matter. Read up on how to take a 'tack sharp' photo.

I need a better lens, as far as sharpness goes.

I'll keep angles in mind.

It's too bad the first one didn't turn out as well as the second; having the driver look at the camera was a nice touch.

Thanks guys. Here's 3 new ones.

I use a D40, kit lens, SB800, Cactus V2s triggers.

I'm saving up for another flash, a tripod, light stands and umbrellas. Then a new lens.

These were shot really quick (3 minutes total spent shooting) and I only edited a little. I need to figure out how to get the paint to look smoother. Short of a new paint job, lol

dude, those are a 1000x's better than your first pics you posted

Hmm yea don't rush when shooting.. take you're time, I know it's already been said in here..... Remember to use lower shutter speeds to capture more light when dark and higher shutter speeds if its really bright.. Use a tripod when ever you can... Id also say try and keep you're watermark in 1 location.. Angles are key... People get bored of the same shot stance..

Hmm also from the first set of pics takin, to the last set of the impala, thats a huge difference.. Almost to huge..

Anyways G/L

on the side shot of the impala
i wouldve turned the wheel the other way to show the rim
probably would try and get equal spacing on each side of the car since it looks like the front is more tightly cropped than the rear.

other than that, its good progress

Pendulum

You know what's funny is the Impala shots took just as much time as the 1st set of pics did. I literally snapped all 5 shots in the time it took him to go inside the store and grab two Dasanis n a bag of chips.

The wheel was already turned that way, and he took the keys. Plus the car has no power steering ):

Thanks for the input guys.

i really like the picture of the stock lancer you got

alittle advice though try not to make the focal point in the center of the picture like on your other ones. the picture is more intresting when the focal point(mostly the car) is off to the side or top or bottem just alittle friendly advice
