I remember my first time.. Lol some integra blew up his tranny right next to me

Dead Bird 02-22-2012 05:41 PM

Actually, the car is a ton slower right now.

No racing for me yet. Just gonna mosey around town.

Colten79 02-22-2012 06:08 PM

How so?

Dead Bird 02-22-2012 06:13 PM

Too much fuel.
Ignition and cam angles are off significantly.

SlowCivicHmm 02-22-2012 06:24 PM

DYNO TIME!! LOL

Does anyone have a wide band/data logger I can borrow friday for tuning track side??

hatchkid91 02-22-2012 08:00 PM

Dead Bird 02-22-2012 08:22 PM

How much was the rear bumper?

Sooooo sick of my "speed holes"

MADEGO 02-22-2012 11:08 PM

I cut a tire! good thing I had tire insurance.

Dead Bird 02-22-2012 11:48 PM

50 miles on it today.

Temp likes to sit between 185-195. It's warmer then it used to be, but I may have a tiny air bubble.

Vtec seems to work nicely. I hate my exhaust though. Gotta get that taken care of. I think I'll put that stock piping I have on soon.

SlowCivicHmm 02-23-2012 04:39 AM

Night of fail!!

Car is back together and drove it......BUT

always a but, there is no pedal pressure...

One more bleed in the am before work and off to alignment...

445-645 - sleep
700-745 - bleed
800-830 - shower/dress
845-900 - drop off @ alignment
930 - work

THIS SUKS

Gates is a great brand

I'm debating either gates or oem lol...oem is like 5 bucks more

....yeah I'm about to go to Honda

failedabortion 02-23-2012 12:57 PM

I would trust gates belts just as much as oem.

That all you need to fire it up?

rudsone 02-23-2012 02:47 PM

Yep and apperantly SIX fucking quarts of trans oil since I drained it completely. True?

just got back from bell honda with a t belt and new hood stand holder thing. The oem Honda t belt says gates on it btw.
Oh and fuck scott, dude is such a fucking asshole every time I go. That old limping guy ftw

failedabortion 02-23-2012 04:05 PM

For an automatic maybe, manual is around 2qts.

SlowCivicHmm 02-23-2012 04:11 PM

for a D series?? 2qts of tranny fluid.......DONE!! 1.9 actually but whatever..

a B series is like 2.4qts

failedabortion 02-23-2012 04:20 PM

Started polishing some spoon braces...forgot I don't have anything finer than 1200 grit fail.

rudsone 02-23-2012 04:26 PM

Remember my shit is AUTO, I'm really hoping it's not true lol...but the guy at autozone said I needed 6, checked on his computer.

Who can let me borrow an impact gun?! I need to take off the belt pulley bolt!

cjb 02-23-2012 05:52 PM

You would only need that much if it was bone dry, the stall converter or whatever its called holds fluid i bet 2/3 qts you will be fine.

rudsone 02-23-2012 06:28 PM

The trans I took off my z6 and put on the y8...does that count as dry?

also I saw on pics of your cream hatch that you have the driver side barnes plug? What's the part número?

Dead Bird 02-23-2012 06:51 PM

You didn't touch the torque converter right? It stayed bolted to the engine?

rudsone 02-23-2012 06:57 PM

I do believe I removed it to check flywheel bolts but I don't remember oil spilling anywhere

Dead Bird 02-23-2012 07:03 PM

Open up a fsm and see what it says, or call the dealer tomorrow.

rudsone 02-23-2012 07:19 PM

Gonna have to call the dealer tomorrow and ask them, can't get my hands on a factory manual so that will be my best bet.

also the engine doesn't have the plastic piece behind the cam gear to do the timing. so much crap jesussssssss

Mop 02-23-2012 07:46 PM

if it's straight y8, pretty sure cam gear marks align with the head surface.

Dead Bird 02-23-2012 07:50 PM

Ya.

If lower cover is on there, line the crank pulley up with the mark there. If not, should still be a mark on the oil pump. Have the cam gear facing up, and the 2 lines on the outside should line up with the surface of the head the valve cover and gasket sit on.

Put belt over crank pulley, then tensioner, then water pump, then gear.

Tighten tensioner to spec.
Rotate whole assembly(have your ratchet on the crank pulley bolt) counterclockwise 4 or 6 times around, and line back up top dead center.
Loosen t-bolt 180* (turn tensioner bolt 1/2 turn counterclockwise)
Rotate the whole assembly counterclockwise so that 3 teeth on the cam gear pass the line of the head.
Retighten tensioner. Should be perfect.

rudsone 02-23-2012 07:51 PM

And that's all? After that set the piston top dead center?

I'm exhausted, 8pm- 12pm shift last night/this morning has me beat but I'm about to see what the f is up. I NEED to get the pulley bolt off too. impact anyone? I can rent it or however you wish!

rudsone 02-23-2012 07:54 PM

dude you are the man! big ups for all the (e)help you have given me, thanks to everyone else too! Whoever has taken the time to stop and respond to my questions THANK YOU!

...sounds like I just won an Emmy lmao. But for real I appreciate this thread so much...

Dead Bird 02-23-2012 07:59 PM

I mean, it sounds right in my head. I probably forgot 2-3 steps though. Bahaha
